Wel. Im 17 living in northern ireland and hoping to buy a 1.4 civic hatch for my first yoke but before i buy i need to know what other people are paying, around my age for the same car and what sort of policy they have so i can sort out funds and all that.
Also any tips on how to reduce my premium would be great
Thanks.

My first year on a K Reg. Ford Fiest I (1.1e), was just over £2000 (Fire & theft). Considering the car was worth, what? - £100 max. Rediculous.

Kinda depends on your postcode, also try and barter with the sale reps. The 'Pass +' scheme is offered in N.I? If so, I'd do it. :D

it will cost you alots to insure a honda full stop. iv been gettin quote for 2200 with 1 yr ncm and been driving for 2 years

Try Quinn and Bell as they tend to be good for young drivers. As mentioned pass plus can sometimes knock a packet off but I'm not sure how effective it is anymore. Always stick a parent on your policy as a named driver (NOT as the main driver) as this still knocks about 30% off quotes.

I'm no expert but I've been told insurance is a lot higher for younger folk these days so expect to be £1500-£2000. Might be worth saving some cash and buying a one litre Peter to drive for a year or two. Flip side is more money for booze when you're 18!

ok. and how does adding a parent on to it reduce the premium? cause the car myt not be in my hands all the time then?
even though it will lol

put ur mum on the policy don't put ur dad on, he puts it up. ave onli been drivin one year got no ncb, insured on ma ej9 for 1129 tpft with admiral thts me as first driver, mum and ma sister as additional drivers. woman bring it right down, try if you can get onto to sheelas wheels insurance company with ur mum on the policy if possible then insurance should come down a fair bit.

adrian fluxx has been good for me under there modified insurance, because they actually enjoy you spend money on your car so... you will look after your car!!! (only on non performance mods tho...shhh!)

u will be hard pushed to get a 1.4 at 17, its not impossible if you have the money to pay extremly high premiums and have a high excess!

i would try admiral or adrian fluxx they are quite good with young drivers!

When I just passed my test at 18 I insured a Saxo VTR for £1800 third party F&T, I then went on to a C2 VTS a year or so later and it was £1600 fully comp. Hope this gives you some food for thought, you may be even dearer due to your location. All mine were through Admiral/Quin.

Its all a lottery, who you get on the phone to quote and lately it is not cheaper to do it online in my case, I have gotten better quotes over the phone direct with insurance companies.

try putting family members on your insurance i tryed to insure my jordan it was 5500 and am 20 with 1 years ncb i stay in a bad area but when a put my da and 2 uncles on it as named drivers it wen down to 2000 so i tryed taking my da and uncles off and putting 3 of my auntys on it it has now went down to 1478 and if i wait 2 weeks till i have had my licence 3 years and it goes down to 1303 did not tell them about the mods tho thats with admiral
