16 inch-wat size tyres

to keep the speedo from being put out.

standard :

195/50/R15 for standard EK9 wheels so with your 16" wheels
215/40/R16 this gives very minimal size difference so you shouldn't get any speedo out of snyc issues.

with this setup the difference between standard and yours will be less than 1% it'll be 0.33% difference so for the 195/50/15 tire the circumference is 1810mm and the 215/40/16 tire will be 1816mm so 6MM over the whole circumference :D

15" speedo = 100Mph with the 16" wheels your speedo = 100.33 Mph

hope this helps you

I have always put 195/45/16 on all of my 16x7 wheels mainly for clearance with lower offset wheels.

But as said above that would be the best size if you don't want to put your speedo out by much.

Agree with this man, 215 will be too wide for an ek I reckon as the average 16" wheel is minimal 7" wide. I Ran 195/45/16 on my old slips and they just about cleared the arches with an offset 38. Arch rubbing is my main concern.

Actually stock ek9 tyre is 55 profile

Stock ek9 tyre = 195/55/15
Stock 98+ dc2 = 215/45/16

I have a set of part worn Yoko 215/45/16 available if your interested.

Tyre width 195 is better and you have more control over 205 or 215 (on Civics) regarding rut on roads (asphalt)...

so 195x45 R16 or 195x50 R16 are best options

and....these are not comfortable, specially on lowered cars... :)

OOPS !!! i went by the tires that are fitted to my car. sorry was unaware that standard tire size is 195/55/R15..HAHA thats the reason my speedo is so out :p what a FOOL lol. Which is bloody annoying. so i will be getting the right size tires as soon as i can..

The workings out :
your nearest size to OEM would be 205/45/R16 or 215/45/R16 tire as a few have said...

a 195/45/R16 tire is nearly 5cm smaller in circumference which will throw your speedo out. At 65Mph on your speedo you will actually be doing 63.5Mph so thats 1.5 Mph out

where as a 215/45/R16 tire will only be 1.3cm larger in circumference, yes it is larger but the speedo reading of 65Mph will only be out by 0.48Mph and give 65.48Mph true speed

The 205/45/R16 tire will be about the same as the 215/45/R16 but the other way, it'll be 1.4cm smaller than the original in circumference so the speedo reading of 65Mph will be 64.5Mph true speed

both very minimally out they are both well within 1% of the original where as 195/45/R16 is 2.3% out..

So technically the 215/45/R16 tire is the closest you can get to the 195/55/R15 tire

having said that you won't get any issues with the 195/45/R16 tire you'll just be closer to OEM with the 215/45 spec tires :)

TBH if you don't care about your speedo then fair enough. only posting this as i find it interesting and thought others might also like to see why people go for certain tires. and i'm bored :p
