11 Inch BBS RS's On a civic....

i kinda like it love to see the finished product i think it might look interesting , but IMO you have to have the car slammed inorder to make it work :nice::nice:

This is my reason for the face palm. if the camber is that bad when the suspension is fully extended imagine how bad it must be at ride height. :nerv:
and yes i appreciate your trying a different look but i see that look on slammed bora's and other german twonk all the time!

i personally cannot wait to see the final pics from this
its gonna definitely look different but thts not always bad
im also liking the fact that you can get wheels that wide, are they safe enough?

looking forwards to seeing the end result
your money spend it how you want

the plan is to put some rubber on it and toe it in on the bottom to bring the lip of the rim out past the arch so the camber wont be as bad then

i see were you are coming from these wheels will only be for daily driving and shows other wheels for drag and track days

they would not be on the car if it was'nt safe simple.

sound man will get pics up when it's finished

at least its not a ek9 : |

oh ya i know god forbid some one put a nice set of wheels on one and be a bit different

looks awsome mate. at least your thinkn out of the box. Id rather have a euro ek than have a ek9 wana be 2bh

I'm not quite sure what people's problem seems to be with this? Coming from the dub scene, I'm seeing a lot of people starting to stance their cars on jap stuff like te's etc, and they dont get pointed this way? If its not your style, then dont bother posting anything, fairly simple surely? Yeh its not the way I choose to mod my 9, mines much more predictable however this could look fully sick if he pulls it off. Admittedly though, it will take a lot of work to get it to look right, but fair play to having a crack.

Bit of a rant, but I just dont see the need for the one or two negative posts, especially coming from some of the higher posters who you would think would like to keep it nice and friendly on here....

Fair game if you post pictures on a public forum in my book.

Plus no-one has been truly 'orrible :p

I have a Volkswagen background before this, had a 6N polo DECKED so low on dishes wheels that the subframe would bottom out on the slightest bump in the road :wow:

BUT i replied with the facepalm as running THAT much negative camber on a stretched tyre is extremely dangerous

It will put a phenonenal stress on the tyre sidewall not to mention that if you were to push the car at all the back end would be all over the place

Not got a problem with people daring to do something a bit different with their car, but when they do something that may put themselves and other road users in danger then yes I won't agree. Also not to mention, that much camber/dish will look garbage, this isn't an assumption, i've seen it done before and in no way does it look good! Shame as BBS RS are one of my all time favourite wheels :)

Everyone here is entitled to give their opinion. Ok some may have been put across a little unfriendly but hay, thats life. Nothing that bad was said.

I will reserve judgement until the final product. Not my way of styling in general but each to their own.

Also i agree with Steve, anything that may be dangerous when driving doesnt get a thumbs up from me really.

But as he told the camber will be less negative when finished :) So lets await.

Dude they're not 11"s the way the "J" of a wheel is measured is from bead to bead all be it they'll still work out to be 10"s or 9.5"s which is damn wide for an EK I can't imagine the offset will be in your favour after adding the larger lips. Out of interest what were the original spec's as you'll be able to work out the new offset.

This link should help you out...

Flushstance - Offset is nothing without width & drop

I'm not hating at all infact I've had wide (16x9) RS's on my EK9 and only recently changed to TE37's.

Anyway I can't wait to see them mounted, so long as they don't poke hideous amounts it will look amazing especially against the white!

This is how my 9"s sat...

Yeah thats fine, it was more aimed at the e38 link posted...

Yeah I know but the chances of anything actually going wrong is so small. People run just as much camber daily with no problems, and of all the people who run stretched tyres compared to the amout of incidents you here of related to it, the % is tiny. I know thats not really the attitude, but if you spend your life worrying about this guys camber + stretch what happens when you see some old 95 year old dear who doesnt have a clue whats shes doing on the road? People bin there cars daily, purely out of irresponsible driving NOT excessive camber, theres far more dangerous road users out there.

Yeah I know nothing that bad was said, I just dont see the need to put anything at all if its not to your taste. To be honest, its not to mine. Granted, Phill's looked sick on his RSs but anything over a 9j is over kill for me. I'm in the view that an '9 should be a performance car as intended, not a show pony but if this is how he wants to do it then thats up to him, same as I wouldn't expect him to post about mine or knock it because mines the same as everyone elses.

I like this forum because it hasnt really got a 'clique' as such, and for someone like me who doesnt really post a lot etc its nice to have that, and just dont really want to see it go that way if you see what I mean?
