hi,
im looking for an integra block for my ek9 and have the chance of a 1.8 vti engine cheap, i am going to be using my b16 head on the block. so my question is..does the 1.8 vti engine have the same block as an integra type r? if not will i still gain from this block?

cheers guys

Highlights of B18C Spec R compared to standard B18C GSR

1. Camshaft - Wide-angled, high-lift, high-durability camshaft

2. Exhaust Valve Spring - High-lift, dual-layered spring

3. Sparkplug - High-heat-type #7 platinum plug

4. Engine Stiffener - Aluminum die-cast, high-durability, one-piece type

5. Crankshaft - Full-balancer, 8-weight, high-output, custom crankshaft

6. Connecting Rod - Custom TypeR rod, high-durability, lightened

7. Pistons - High-compression, low-friction, custom pistons

8. Inlet Valves - Lightened inlet valves

9. Intake Manifold - Custom tuning, single-port type.

10. Throttle Body - 62mm wide-mouth throttle body.

11. Inlet Valve Springs - High-lift, flat-surfaced, dual-layered spring

Taken from another website. Might help you decide which to go for.

thanks for the reply mate,

5. Crankshaft - Full-balancer, 8-weight, high-output, custom crankshaft

6. Connecting Rod - Custom TypeR rod, high-durability, lightened

7. Pistons - High-compression, low-friction, custom pistons

im not no engine genius but id say that with these 3 there will be a fair difference, as i will only be using the block!

has anyone ever put a b16 head with b18 gsr block and seen gains?
its just alot cheaper and easier to get hold of the gsr block.

im sure you will gain more torque. im sure its the inlet manifold that really restricts these engines so im sure once you put your b16 head with its inlet manifold it will free it up a good bit

Not a massive difference! You will be running slightly less compression alright but you could have your head skimmed to bump the compression up a little. You will make more power than your current setup so if its goin cheap id go for it. You wont be far off b18c power:nice:

cheers for the help guys! once i have the block i am going to uprate the clutch and flywheel (lighter) then the car is going to performance autoworks for some head-work, i spoke 2 someone there today and i am going to have the head skimmed, inlet and exhaust ported, and new valves and retainers, i said i want to get uprated cams after a while so he said he can set up the valves and retainers to work with my stock cams and for uprated ones when i get them! he said he done the same to another ek9 and it dyno'ed at 230bhp, does this sound like realistic figures?

if i was to get a gsr bottom end and had all this head work done, will i still see good gains? maybe 200 bhp or a little more?
my aim is to get the car running 200bhp if not a little bit more.

oh and the ek9 he dyno'ed at 230bhp was with a type r block, not gsr.

Take a look at this thread, he had similar setup to what your talking about
