For the track (as in circuit, not strip), there is nothing better than a Plate LSD, although in saying that, you
must learn how to drive with it. In a beginners hands, a Helical LSD will be far easier to get to grips with. Is personal preference really i.e are you ready for the learning curve?
In regards to brand, although they all function
fairly similar, a few options do stick out (IMO) as they shy away from the traditional design of a Plate LSD and improve on the design where it matters by using a Spring-Loaded design:
1) Torque transition is gradual. This provides more control
2) Swappable cam angles/way
3) Adjustable lock
4) Virtually no chatter (hallelujah baby!!). No more friction modifiers! Now my synchros won't suck!
The companies that offer these are: MFactory (
), Cusco and OS Giken
