got a plate diff in my ek9.was in there since i imported it.round corners going slow it clonks and clicks.been told this aint normal and i will be needing a new gear box.will a integra gearbox fit?? dose any1 know hu has a decent gearbox.

One question, what LSD you got?

More info required here. If it has an aftermarket LSD this noise is normal, after about half hour driving the noise almost goes.

find out what you have and then change the fluid with what the LSD manufacturer recommends.

I think he has a plate diff.... :p

change the fluid. Do a search in here for fluid recommendations.

you mean clutch type? That's what i interpreted and that's why i suggest he follow the LSD manufacturer recommendations for fluids, like i know kaaz says to use kaaz fluid etc...

its a plate diff.i can drive all day long and the clonking dose not go.feels like cv joint has gone but reali bad.you can feel it through the steering wheel.been to a garage and thay told me its not right and is all set up wrong.

I have a cusco LSD that clunks and bangs a low speed while having lock on the car. Just wondering how u change the diff (is it the same as the gearbox oil) oil and if anyone knows what oil I should use for a cusco diff?

search this forum.

but just this time, we'll help :p

cusco LSD? cusco fluid.

unknown plate LSD? Start with Motul. Which Motul? Read the labels, you want the one with friction modifiers and a weight that is 75W90 which is equivalent to 10W30/40. Gearbox oils are rated differently.

I personally have had much success with running one bottle of Ford (yes, the blue oval brand) friction modifier plus 2 bottles of Redline MTL.

I would stay the hell away from KAAZ fluid though. Very difficult to shift when cold. You must change the transmission fluid every 3-5000kms depending on how aggressively you drive. If you don't, the metal bits in suspension will gum up everything and you'll start grinding gears.

PM me your diff part number of information and I'll recommend you the correct diff oil - there's various types of diff oil made by Cusco depending on the diff type.

sound normal buddy, i've used/use cusco and kaaz plate type diffs and thats how they work.

as you increase your speed it wont bang but it will grip tremedously. Just around town etc its a pain in the ass with noise that comes outta it (draws strange looks :p ).

I always find if you use a certain amount of throttle going round a roundabout etc that it wont bang atall no matter what speed you go, it just takes practise to drive it that way. I've had my car for around 8 months now and i'm just getting the hang if it.

As for fluid, i use Motul gear 300. Works well in these diffs. It can be a little bit 'clunky' when its really cold but after a few minutes driving it works very well.

cheers for the help.just orderd sum oil and will c how it goes.do i need to replace washer on gear box?

just tryed changing gear box oil.i can not find the drain bolt.i followed the link on here and the gear box dose not match mine? please can some one help or give me a picture? there was 2 bolts but thay were a speical square insert nut.

The 17mm bolt just above (and to the left) of the centre-line of the driveshaft inner cup is the Fill bolt.. the 3/8" sq-drive is the drain. When you fill it youll need the driverside wheel off as you'll want to lower the car to be pretty much level, otherwise the gearbox wont take quite enough fluid. :nice: Email'd you a pic
