Not updated this for a while. Around a year ago now my card had been burning oil and was smoking at high rpm, this was gradually getting worse. I ended up replacing the valve stem seals as this was the first step. It didn't cure the problem. After having the car stored over winter my dad and me went about rebuilding the engine.
List of some of the parts replaced and work done:
Head steam cleaned
Ferrea 6000 series valves
Ferrea bronze magnese valve guides
Honda OEM valve stem seals
Blueprint waterpump
Gates timing belt kit
Koyo tensioner
Spoon Sports genuine head gasket
Riken Piston rings
ACL main crank bearings
Honda OEM manifold gasket
Sump Gasket
A few photos from the build:
All this work was carried out by my dad and me helping, I can't thank him enough for putting up with me. Done 100 miles since the rebuild.
A few weeks ago on my day off I decided to treat the car to Autoglym clay bar, Autoglym High definition Condenser, Autoglym High definition wax. This works great, gives the car such a shine and the paint is really smooth.
Since owning the car there was always a bulge in the rear bumper and a crack in a few places. I finally got the bumper repaired and painted:
After the rebuild I treat the car to a couple more parts, Tegiwa X brace with strengthening bars, this was a bit of a pain to fit but got there in the end. I also removed the rear seats, not sure if I'm going to keep it like this but I never really took people In the back anyway.
I also got a carbon bonnet, had a few issues with this at first as it had lacquer peel quite bad down both sides. I have had the bonnet repaired, polished and buffed. It's hard to get pictures of the weave but I'm quite happy with the look. I went out as it was a nice day and took a few pics:
