have not got a clue about oil temps but thinking i mite need one due to the colour of the oil maybe
and also i can get cheap guages but is it worth spending the extra 40 or 50 quid to get the likes of STACK or VDO guages ?
I would recommend a electrical as opposed to mechanical gauge (usually cheaper) for oil pressure. I've seen the mechanical ones (where the hot oil feed is routed to the gauge itself) leak.
yes i will buy guages. but im asking about an oil cooler is it worth me getting one at the same time ?

i hope i have not been doing the same thing DV8 would be gutted if it was the case.
1. Install a oil pressure gauge.
2. Install a oil temp gauge if not already installed.
Your gauges will tell you if you need an oil cooler or not.

Very true, good advice!
Personally wouldn't skimp on gauges. If you ever sell the car you can transfer them so good ones are a worthwhile investment.
but in that case if i get a thermostat for the oil will 2 sandwitch plates be ok ? or is that not risking it too much ?
well then how do you go around fitting the guages to a thermostatic plate ?
