Anyone any intrest in an EM1 race car build?....

I have no PS on my car and its so much better to drive, even if parking is a bastid. But again personal preference :D

personal preferance and all, but i have removed it completely (none of this external resevoir nonsense, PS fully removed and the rack stripped, PS chamber seal removed and rack greased)

steering is not overly heavy in the slightest, this combined with a plate type diff is unreal, the feel you get of the road and what the car is doing is brilliant. can easy make corrections when required (at the ring for example i locked up on an oil slick at the top of 3rd gear, car broke away and was easilly able to apply full lock to prevent a crash)

combine this with some longer balljoints and inverted track rod ends to correct the angles from lowering and it is certainly far from a terrible thing to do..........

why are you not running power steering? I personaly think that is the stupidest thing anyone could do to a car!
I am not running power steering because i dont need it. I came to that conclusion after i did a 30minute stint on track in a dc2 without power steering. My findings were, that i would be able to drive my own car for the same time on a circuit without power steering.
Couple with the above, the following hard facts
  1. Less inertia on the engine makes it easier to rev
    2. Weight reduction
    3. Much better feedback to the driver

I didnt remove the PS until i had fully thought it through and also got other advice from other drivers who run without it. Rallying is a completely different proposition to circuit racing and you cannot compare your own setup to mine.
I hope that after my explanation, you see that the conclusions i have come to and what i have done is not stupid. Choose your words/accusations carefully when you decide to brand peoples actions in future.
And just to finish, i dont do the 'in thing' when it comes to building a car. I would have assumed that anyone who has read the whole thread would realise that......shur...why build a coupe?....lol!!!!

PS isn't a bad thing as such! I was thinking of running a seperate electric pump for mine, But decided against it! at least with the electric smaller pump you don't restrict the engine.

sounds like your removal was alot more thorough than mine steve, Interesting! as said at speed the feel is great and feels light to made small adjustments!

Yet to get longer balljoints & Inverter track rod ends! All that aside.....

Lets see some more!! :D

I asked a simple question then gave MY opinion, if you wish to throw your toys out of the pram be my quest.
You are happy with the fact you dont run ps, i personaly still believe a car that is easier to drive is a car you can drive quicker, but yes i agree that rallying is different to being on a circuit.
Oh and ive done a few laps of the nurburgring, and i 'personaly' found it boring, try catching the back end stepping out in a lane just wider than the car, then you will understand why ps is a must where you could get away without it on a track, but like you say all personal preference and after all it was a simple question, it wasnt designed to start an argument, maybe ill just nod my head and agree in furture........

You didn't so much give an opinion, you provided a statement as you gave no initial justification just that it's "stupid", so tbh you should expect abrupt answers to your abrupt statement :)

anyways as a mod i hate to see petty stupid internet arguements, well done you rally down narrow lanes and must have massive balls, some of us choose to visit the "boring" nurburgring to get our kicks

less of the childish chit chat, lets just leave it that some people prefer no PS and some people choose to keep it

:nice:

Whatever you do, dont just nod your head. I am open to criticism as much as any one else. :)...just try to word the critisicm a little better ;)
Anyway i think ive answered the initial question...must get more piccies up asap!

motul race fluid, braided lines no brace tho, but that was not the issue...lol. I was going to fast for the brakes pads. But even with race pads I don't think they would be adequate enough for me. Great for a 5-10 minutes tho!

Im using Dixcel Slotted Discs, Dixcel Type Z pads, Dot5.1 Fluid & A master cylinder brace with braided lines, Ive not had any issues yet and they have been tested pretty damn hard!

When do you think this thing will be out for some testing?

After christmas now i reckon, season has ended and ive still a good bit of work to do on it :(
Place has been flooded out of it over here so hav'nt had a chance to do anything this week. I'd give it around another 4 weeks or so before it snows. Will have to wait for the snow to clear before i get out. Could be the end of january at this rate :(

Some crappy pictures i took in the garage this evening...poor lighting didnt help. Will be cracking on with the work tomorrow. Still a good bit left to do, but its making major progress!

:D...its unique anyway lol!
Them welded mounts make some vibrations through the car when its ticking over :nerv:
Tomorrow i'l be getting a few final bits from the motorsport suppliers and im going to take out the brake lines and run new braided lines with a adjustable bias valve.
:)

where did you get your fuel hoses made?
