Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

I believe all the b series are the same. And the Internet says the same. Except for pre 96 b series, which had different pumps apparently? All 96 onwards should be the same. And if it fixes it it's not a patch it's a creative fix ;)

That oil pressure is acceptable, non type r pumps are different. My b16a peaked around 75-80 psi

Ah ok so I'm not that far off the pressure it should be. Still alittle low but not too bad.
Got dc2 head here now and I'll try and get to machine shop Monday.
See what they say.

New oil and filter in the b18c4.
Tried to figure out boost issue but no luck.
Have to put 1bar into it before it feels like it's actually pulling. Definitely need to sort this forged block!
Got the AFRs up alittle now 10.8ish at 1bar.

Still running the c4, no signs of the oil pressure dropping yet but I'm not holding too much hope for it atm.
Going to order new clutch and flywheel for the forged build and get them balanced along with the crankshaft then it's reassembly of the forged block!
Means I can still run the car and have fun with it whilst I rebuild an engine for it.

The power issue seems to have fixed itself, put my foot down in 3rd and it spins my dunlops up everytime and pulls like a train!
Need a buddy to help me set up boost by gear so I can try and lay some proper power down in 3rd now.
Want to get the alignment changed at the front aswell to try and dial out some of the understeer I was getting at brands last time out.

All in all its looking up. Expensively up but up is up..... Right?

Ok.
Power issue is back, doing some investigations today and we'll see what I can come up with.
Found a new machine shop, took my crank, rods, pistons, flywheel and clutch in for a full engine balance.
Was talking to the machinist about my failures and he wants to see the block and oil pumps also.
He took the time to show me what my bearings had to say about not only the initial install but how it was running aswell. Pretty sure he's thinking along the lines of cross contamination killing the engines everytime, would make sense with what's happening to the c4 block ATM.
Seems a very thorough bloke and I'll take the rest of my parts in on Monday and see what we can come up with.
The ring trip is 2months away so I can't be waiting around too long for this engine work to be done, aswell as it being too expensive..
Good vibes about this one though so finger crossed we can come to an agreement on time/price and get a working forged block in my car!

Doesn't only sound like the bloke is thorough, sounds like he actually cares too. Can't imagine there's too many people that would like to see all your old parts to examine them too. Hope it all works out this time. Good luck man :)

Well I've fixed the boost issue I think.
Found a cable tie on the top wastegate hose had snapped but was still wrapped round the hose so hard to spot!
Changed the coolant temp sensor aswell because I suspect that was Chinese.
Got a cold idle issue that I think is the IACV but that's small issue that only really effects it when it's cold so it can wait for now.

Yeah the machinist took the time to teach me afew bits which was nice of him, the kind of things that experience teach you so that's cool!
After speaking with him I suspect cross-contamination is what's causing all these issues.
The head and standard oil cooler the first time.
Standard cooler, mocal cooler and head the 2nd time.
And all 3 again the 3rd time.
All these parts trap the particles in and with the coolers they can't really be cleaned so it's a decent shot that's the issue. If that's the case I've really only got one complete muppet to blame for this.....ME.
On the bright side of that means I'll have a perfectly fine b16b head to sell off afterwards if that's the case.

Mindless vandels are back, massive dent in the roof where they've done alittle dance on it or something.
Managed to push the majority of it out but can still see afew waves if your looking for them.
Need a roll cage to stop this from happening.....

That's sad :( sounds like you found a good machinist tho. I did one block in machining but got out it's a boring trade.

Yeah he took a look at my oil pump ad said its Defo contamination.

He's giving my block a once over and I'm expecting a quote for some work in the next few days.

It could have come from anywhere tbh. He said that oil coolers are a must replace, I've reused the standard item each time.
The first engine I was actually stupid enough to not replace the oil pickup tube(full of piston pieces) also haven't washed the head thoroughly enough.

In my defence if I wasn't rebuilding from a failure and was just forging an otherwise healthy engine then I don't think I'd have had any of these problems but because it did melt a piston and obviously sent metal everywhere it makes cleaning everything vitally important. Unfortunately I've got a habit of learning things the hard way!

Ya that definetly sucks but think I all the great experience you have gotten from this

Yeah certainly gained a lot of useful knowledge, just wish I could have gained it through the winter and not during track season.

So finally got round to sorting through my brands hatch track pics, my dad was the cameraman so some aren't the best quality. Some are nice though.

Abit too much body roll for my liking but this is the final corner(clearways) a long right hand sweeper than also dips down hill right after apex. Tricky little corner but I love it!

Entrance into clearways, braking zone come up very quickly after a fast left/right so again tricky to get the braking bad right and keep the car square.

That mini looks pretty scared, rightly so lol

High speed(ish) flyby past the pitstraight

This is the braking zone into clearways I mentioned earlier, would like to be alittle later on the brakes here next time out.

Attacking the brakes here mind! First ever glowing disc picture. Not a 4pot caliper or brake upgrade in sight....

Love the cars presence on track, looks purposeful!

Rich being told off for noise limits! Tut tut

He was soon back out though and I was soon right behind him....

Hunting for purpose built track machinery in my adapted Japanese granny wagon!

More hunting....

And more

Pretty much the limit of front end grip, rear wheels are planted! No tripod action here!

Cheeky diffuser shot, Defo think this works! Rear end stability was very high. Probably too much so tbh

Just another day at the office!

Nice, some good action shots!. Would quite like a visit to brands... If I ever get my car finished. It's a long way but so is every other track in the country

Yeah my dads abit of a rebel, jumping Inbetween the fence and crash barrier and all sorts lol
I'm not complaining though, free track pics! I love brands as you can probably tell, short track and full of traffic but it's still a challenge everytime you drive it.

Savige man sry to hear about those bastards vandalisin ur car bad bastards you should get a shed or a shotgun haha
