Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

Reason i asked is.
Normal engine heads have very small oil galeries, and if your previous engine pumped metal everywere their is a 100% certainty that it got into the galleries of the head!
What you have done is not cleaned the head and the shrapnel was still inside and probably alot of it, and this wont just go away with one cycle of oil or even 3/4. What you have done is put the oem bottom end on and it has pumped oil round the bottom end and mixed with the contaminated oil in the head Getting into the oil pump causing all sorts of problems such as blockages/ the metal grinding at the pump gears, and thus low pressure in the engine and that just makes the rest of the engine eat at i self cycling around the engine. Normal heads have very small oil gallieries and expecially honda heads due to the vtec design the cam caps etc all have a very intrecate design to allow for the vtec system to be properly lubricated.
Do you understand where im coming from?

Their was probably nothing wrong with the other bottom end but you have screwed it by allowing that contaminated oil round it. If you have seen many failed engines you will understand that metal flakes do not just go aeay without being properly chemically cleaned/hot tanked etc.

Yeah I get you. Tbh I think I ****** the head along with the first forged block.
Cleaned the head the 2nd time round but didn't go to a machine shop for a proper job so as you say probably still lingering bits in there.

I feel a new head is a must now and I'll get the block cleaned up again. May take a shot on the forged block again, clean it up, new pump and see what happens.

What i would do is, plastigauge the crank n check all bearings etc for wear, if its all good then Ask the machine shop to hot tank the block/chemically clean it. With a new pump u will be good to go! Slap on a c4 head boom! U will be boosting again.

The ecu is mapped for an ek9 head, I'll get away with a dc2 one but I won't be able to Rev a c4 head like I can ATM.
I'll get another head and possibly have that tanked aswell.
Hope your right bud, need this thing to work!

I bet my 9 on it!
Get a new head.
Get the block cleaned and inspected
New oil pump
And u will be good to go

In my opinion its clear what has happend.

So afew little bits done today before brands trackday.
Bought some genuine mikalor clamps for all the boost piping, the ones that come in the kits are alot weak and they've seen better days from being removed/refitted so many times!

Noticed that the kazz diff is a lot less aggressive than before and isn't clunking much other tha on full lock.
So took the mtf3 out and replaced with this stuff I've been using before the mtf3 went in.
Hopefully this is the problem and not the diff wearing prematurely(more expense!)

The wait to find out the condition of the head is killing me. I've got 13weeks till the Nurburgring trip so I've got probably 1 more shot at this in my budget! Praying for the head to be the cause! The amount of metal in the filter I would expect the issue to be pretty obvious as there's a lot of it!

Another development on the oil pumps front.
I've been reusing the same oil2water cooler. I've been told these cannot be cleaned thoroughly(makes sense) so that's another part I can replace :)

Cleaned out the Vtec solenoid also?

Yeah I cleaned that out when I did the head.

So took the car to brands today.
Run it in low boost and short shifted at 8k all day.
Engine ran faultless the whole day.....
What's that about?
Going to pull the oil filter tomorrow and see what's happening in there.

In other news I got a shed load of videos and my dad was camera man all day so plenty of pics too.
Plenty of high speed understeer today, really hampered progress. Although I still set a new PB of 56.46 even with the understeer and short shifting but I do feel I was very close to the limit of the car most of the way round.
Feels like the alignment had made the front end worse so I'll be changing that before the next one.
The engine isn't as powerful as the forged block, I couldn't pull away from a Clio sport on the main straight and only just had the grunt over a b16a EG that we made friends with.
I got schooled by a 205 Gti in the corners, I'm ised to being pretty muchje fastest FWD out there so that was humbling lol
Let him past and tried to follow him through the corners but the front end wouldn't do it. Uploading the video of that session so that you guys can see what I mean with the understeer. Was overdriving the car trying to match his apex speeds and it just wouldn't do it.
Back to the drawin board on the alignment, get a splitter on there and perhaps wider wheels and tyres up front.
All in good time As I need to find out what's going on with this engine!

You got outrun by a clio and b16 eg? Did Romain check it? Somethings definitely not right !!

No. I outran the eg but the Clio we was neck and neck on the straights.
Haven't had it checked yet, ran it on moderate boost for one session and it's overfueling(10.5-1 AFR) but it's fine on low boost. Must be the wastegate being plumbed back in creating a restriction or something.

I'll have a video up in about half hour so you can see for yourself. Not the session with the Clio or Eg but you'll get the idea I think.
Max speed on the home straight was about 120mph. Not quite as fast as I have been before but then I was short shifting and not getting a great exit because of the understeer.

Here's the video with the 205.
I come past him because I'm faster around the whole lap but soon noticed he was faster around the corners so I let him past hoping to learn something.
Learnt I've got nowhere near the front end he has lol
Wasn't my fastest session but was good fun running with cars that are almost even!

Looks to be going well though mate and I'm assuming it lasted the day lol

Yeah it lasted all day.
Feel pretty bad that I had a cheap semi synth motor factors oil in it the whole day :(
Was expecting to replace the pump mid day so didn't want to put £50 of oil init to dump it out 50 odd miles later.
Just kept the temps down best I could and seems to have survived it touch wood

Was your pressure consistent mid corner bud?
