Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

Can't mind how much I have just now need to look out my geo sheet.

I've got some of the geo details from a touring car civic and it's running half a degree toe out at the front and quarter of a degree toe out at the rear!

Wow that's quite a lot! Makes my little adjustment seem pointless lol
I really couldn't get on at Bedford when I put too much toe out on the arms by accident. Just couldn't get it turned and over heated r888s within a lap or 2

Castor probably ads 50% to steering effort! Un drivable with a diff and no power steering!

That's that out the window then lol
I've got a diff and no pas haha.
Shame but nevermind.

I will do bud cheers.
Like you say probably a slight bend in an arm or dodgey bush. Tbh I've not had a car with equal caster yet lol

I've never tried it as I said but I'll try anything to experience it. I've always ran 0 at the front so feel like I could learn something from this if anything.
I did have toe out before but it was an accident and was like 0.45degrees lol was horrid.
How much did you have set?

Driving style/track/ weather/ spring rate/ tyres all play their part don't they. That's why there's no real wrong or right too it I suppose.
Trial and error is the best way I think.
I'm happy enough to let the back move on the slower stuff(under around 90mph) after than I want some stability Lol
I'm aiming the set up at the ring really, I want to maximise speed around the faster corners and really get the power working for me.

Yeah thats quite a lot haha! I'm running 0.1 degrees toe out on each side.

Yeah for sure, depends on the use of the car too. Mines is my daily road car so it's finding that compromise of a car that handles how I want and not trying to kill me when I drive it on an uneven road haha.
Fair enough about the stability, I dont blame you haha.
Trial and error is the only way, I got 5 alignments done last year, it's just finding the setup that works for you I think...

One thing that's worth noting is that you'll have the EK9 rear ARB whereas I'm running a smaller EK4 (15mm) one, so you'll naturally have a bit more rotation on the rear.

Check your compliance bushes on the front lower arms, these are the usual culprits for uneven castor man

I used to run toe out at the front on the crx. Handled really well for what I needed it to do.

Looking forward to getting it out and trying it now. Seems afew people have had great success running abit of toe out.
It's hard not to go changing alot of things at once though lol like I want to get the splitter made and on but I want to feel the difference the alignment has made...
Should probably have done it the other way round but...

When you say 0.1 is that in decimal? So 0.06 in minutes? Or do you mean 0.10 minutes?(0.6 being equal to 1 whole degree?) basically double what mine is on the front?
Just find its easy to get lost in the numbers lol

Mrs Halford what coilovers and springs rates you running?

Yeah the cheeky fuckers lol

Cusco zero 2
Iirc they are about 8k front and 5k rear?
Probably abit soft for all out lap time but they are adequate enough for now.

Well at least 8f/5r should be compliant enough for general road use and spirited drives down some back roads.

Regarding caster, take it Whiteline's bushes would be best for adding in some positive caster?

Eoghain was selling some adjustable lower arms iirc, could add upto like 6degrees castor.
I've not seen the white line bush but it's probably the only option other than above.
The ring is really bumpy, so it's probably a good thing my setup isn't overly stiff, esp whilst I'm gaining confidence and learning new techniques all the time.

Got busy today.
Tried to find the reason for the smoke, think I found it. Slight sump leak was putting oil onto the heat wrap on my downpipe, that was then burnin off when getting warm.
I've removed the heat wrap for now and will address the leak.
Slight coolant leak from top rad hose(engine side) need a beefy clip to hold it I think.

I've had a leak into the cabin for ages(common on these) basically the water gets in under the windscreen and runs down the inside of the A pillar, leaving a trail of orange behind it.

If you've got your plastics sill on, I'd suggest you take a quick look as both my ek9s have leaked from here.
So to fix this meant pulling up the roof rails so I cleaned underneath those and stuck some sealant in under the gap in the windscreen. Hopefully I've sealed it up both sides and that's fixed that.

Cleaned up abit, didn't get too anal with it seen as track slag but couldn't leave it.

Cleaned up the door shuts and polished them up abit

Boot shut was full of crap so cleaned and polished that aswell as taking the boot rubber off and cleaning that up aswell.

Then I found this under the boot rubber, water clearly been collecting under the rubber and getting at the metal under the boot latch, so I've either got to grind this back or cut it out, will do it soon though because it doesn't look great. Again I'd suggest everyone look under the rubbers to check for things like this, I'd never have seen it if I hadn't. No clues or rust elsewhere so was surprised to see this.

Under the petrol flap was a state aswell as the actual cap itself.

Not and epic job but clean enough for a track car I think.

Finally the Varis bonnet was abit of a state on the underside, so again polished that.

Previous owner bought this as a damaged bonnet and did a repair on it, looks perfect from the top and does the trick!
Feels much better to have some of those little niggly things cleaned up/straightened out. Cleaning the oem wheels up from rc6 abuse is the challenge tomorrow!

The white line bush kit is a good bit of kit in honesty! At the time I wanted to try something different, I can get so much castor you have to trim the front bumper hahaha

Haha excellent! I'd like to try it but with me having no PAS it's a no go really.

Sorry, was 0.1 degree's so 6 minutes! Yeah easy to get lost haha

Jesse if you're checking your car for rust I'd suggest taking the wiper cowl off and check under there and especially around both corners of the windscreen, there's a lot of factory sealant there which goes hard and brittle over time, my new shell has quite a bit of rust there that was caused by the sealant cracking and letting water through. I'm not too bothered I'll probably crash the car well before it becomes a real problem lol, but I've still cleaned it the best I could and treated it with some Por 25 as that bit is pretty much unrepairable, too many panels and box sections meeting there....

I wasn't actually looking for any rust, as I said other than the front wings there's no rust on the car.
Will check under the wiper cowl though just incase.
I'm wondering if there's a way to get all the plastics black again without painting them?
Spoiler baseplate is pretty faded
