getting more from - b16b??

right lads, i've decided to stroke my b16b to 1.8..i just want to finalise wat exactlyt i need before i go buying parts. i will use dc2 crank and rods..will i need anything other than rods and crank from dc2/itr

should i use b16b pistons or dc2 ones??

should i use thinner head gasket??

anything else need changing??

thanks

Rods, crank +new honda oem bearings. Probably a good time to get a new oil+water pump also. As for head gasket just use oem honda.
You can use the b16b pct pistons but due to the high comp. ratio you will defiantly need a tune so after market or chipped ecu fully tuned needed.
If you go with the ITR pistons then you can run it on a P73 ecu.

B16b pistons are higher comp than B18 - would work very well with some hotter cams.

One thing I've always fancied trying is sleeving a B16b to 1800. Keep the short stroke but increase capacity. Would be a screamer!!

Hi, B18 crank and rods would Do just fine, Have you thought about forged rods/crank? You would/well may need new bearings, ACL race bearings would be highly recommended. Thinner head gasket for slightly high compression is down to you really, I imagine the clearance would be ok.

Would keep B16b pistons and try get hold of a ITR b18 ecu for the correct fueling, my mates Stroked ek9 ran perfect with a spoon b18 ecu.

hope this helps:nice:

219 from b16b thanks impressive man...would skunk pro 2's make much difference??

or wat would be best cams to use??

if i used b16b pistons would the compression be dangerous- like would it be inclined to break something etc..

wen i'm lookin for the bearings wat do i ask for exactly- wats proper name?

tanks man...

wat would forged rods and crank improve??

acl race bearings- would they set me back much??

and i think i'll be using apexi neo man, and after i get the money i'll get apexi fc commander!!

Would keep standard Ek9 cams, more durable than aftermarket ones to be honest. It's just another variable which could go wrong.

Forged crank + rods, Would give you a "bullet-proof" bottom end and in time if you wanted to turbo it, it would take it easy. The bearings are around £100-130 depending where you buy them from, OEM bearings are good enough. You getting the Apexi properly tuned by any chance?

so if i just ask for acl race bearings they'll no what i'm on bout in parts shop??

yea going get the neo properly tuned man, especially cause i'm stroking!!

oh i see just a get the kit!!

wat sort of prices will i belookin at for itr rods and crank

Yeah its in a kit, your looking for rods, mains, thrust as seen here:

Brian Crower ACL Race Bearings

Well, standard itr crank is around £900 from honda, I've just bought mine , Not sure on rods, When I get home I could try dig you a accurate price out if you want! :nice:

The compression ratio is significantly higher when using PCT(b16b) pistons, it would not be advisable by any means to run a ITR(P73) ecu on this setup. If you meant ITR pistons then yeah P73 ITR ecu is fine to use but for pct pistons custom tune is needed.

the spoon kit offers 11.3 compression i think..is this good..

and if i use ctr pistons will such high compression be dodgy??

and wat would the differnces in power be between 11.3 comp and 12.5

Thanks for that Vtec, wasn't too sure on that myself but it seem'd like a logical response, cheers bud:nice:

I would always adivse using brand new parts, If you deceide to use used parts - I would Gen up on them (crank and rods), Upon inspection Look out for premature signs of wear and inspect them thoroughly!

Spoon stroker kits have been discontinued for a while now, there arn't many around. It's always worth giving them a ring though, might get lucky!

With higher compression you need to make sure the valve to piston clearance, is clear, otherwise your in a whole lot of trouble. It's not dodgy if your bottom end can take it (standard can) and your tuner is experienced and knows how to deal with it (I dont :) ) :nice:

Higher comp: Increased throttle response
More power
Better engine efficiency

if i do it i'll be gettin martin tracey do it, hes one the best apparently in ireland!!

you can order spoon stroker kit from inlinefour still.

would there bemuch power differnece between 11.3 comp and say 12.5

Perfectly fine once tuned correctly. The extra compression will show in low down power/response. Its a expensive route to go down buying all new honda parts so another option I would think about is buying a complete b18c short block and using your b16b head.
