getting more from - b16b??

yea was told a crank will be about 1000 euro...i'd get the hole stroker kit for that!!

and yea suppose could get b18c short block...wat would long block be like??

so if i just ask for acl race bearings they'll no what i'm on bout in parts shop??

yea going get the neo properly tuned man, especially cause i'm stroking!!

I wouldnt waste money getting a neo mapped, theres only small amounts of adjustments on it, better wait to get power fc, get more out of it.

As for stage 2 pro series you will get bit more power but upgraded valvetrain will be needed and a neo wont map these or stage 1's. I no for a fact coz ive seen it been tried.

B18 bottom end internals will fit into b16 block also, stroker kits are crazy money and as you no yourself, ya cant beat standard honda parts.

Where bout in Ireland are ya, I could give u a spin in my car see wat ya think.....

yea honda parts are serious strong alright..but a crank is 1000 euro in or around thats fairly steep...spoon stroker kits are about 1200 or so!!

god dont no wat to do ha ha..just want a decent fast b16b :):)

i'm in offaly man, yea would really appreciate a spin..where you from?

Long block would be fine either but its hard to get a 98spec b18c with the b16b cams so you would be better off using your own head and could even skim the head a little to bump compression and give the exhaust ports etc. a good clean. If you got the 2nd hand short block and put new rings and bearings in it you would have a good engine for a long time.

Why not just get a aftermarket Ecu, Hondata for instance - Offers much more than the neo.

If you want a decent bottom end, That will last and be able to take boosting, try a standard B18 crank from honda, and Carillo rods. They are more expensive but if you think of it in the long term, you will never have to change them even if you deceide to go along the forced induction side of things. In my eyes its seen as a sound investment :nice: .. He says:p

yea was thinkin hondata or apexi fc...

yea would a honda crank be stronger than spoon stroker kit one??

yea will be going turbo in time maybe..if dont decide to buy a dc5 by nxt year!!

i'm lookin well over a 1500euro to stroke so

and would that set me back much lad??

Depends how much you get the short block for and labour costs for doing the work. If it was the case you could pick up a low mileage b18c short block then I wouldn't bother putting new rings or bearings in it as it should be fairly healthy as is. Are you over on dtdirl? There is a guy on there "Thumper" who sells honda bits and often has low-ish miles b18c engines. He had one recently enough and said he would split the block so you could get a short block from him...

Easily, with all parts, labour and dyno costs.

hmm, Vtec, could he use a B18c5 crank? Not sure if there the same stroke - Would more than likely be cheaper though :nice:

yea was on dtirl but cant use the for sale forums etc yet..pain in the hole!!

sound for the tip i'll have a look there now.

labour , any ideas on that cost??

Depends who you go to for labour costs, give martin a ring and he should be able to give you a ball park figure.
Was just checking there, Thumper has a b18c6(UK ITR) engine from 99 car £1300 with all ancillaries and says he will split block so you could get the short block for right money...

All down to your tuner mate, usual charge in Uk is anywhere in between £50-120 per hour I've seen.

Labour for engine mods, would be ... 200-400? You'd have to ask/barter with em! Best part of it lol :)

`yea was lookin at thumpers add there..may pm him now and ask...
are them b18c6 good?

Yeah personally never seen any trouble with them. And with using your b16b head you will have a nice combo:nice:

cheers lad....yea heard the b16b head was good with b18 ends...will be making nice bhp then hopefully...

if i stuck with standrd b16b fully mapped , and decent intke/exhaust etc.. wat could i possibly make..just to see if stroking is worth it!

Probably around 190bhp but the torque increase of the 1.8 is what really makes the difference between the 1.6 and 1.8.

anyone no how to clean up an enigne block....?? wat to use etc

Lots of different products out there from meguiars to simoniz etc. I find carb cleaner and a brush pretty good or gunk engine degreaser.
