yeah basically some coilovers you can lower the body of the shock into the lower part of the assembly which means that you can lower the car without affecting the suspension travel available. you can do this with Tein's from the Flex model upwards
that is correct, however most shocks with this feature run stiffer spring rates, lest not forget tein basic and SS are intended for street use, and one of the only coilovers that are intended for street use.
