alright so im looking for insurance for a ej9 and it says the address that the documents will be sent to so i put in g32 9bw ( glasgow ) being my home address and it asks where the car will be kept, so i was getting silly money for g32 9bw, like 20 grand no joke so anyway i put down iv4 7ah which is inverness where i visit quite allot and it quotes me 4 grand fully comp :win:
which is not too bad for a 17 yr old with a civic, but my question is how do the insurance companies not say hold on a sec your car is parked 300 miles away from where your documents are kept. seems silly that where its parked affects the price that much, anyone got any thoughts ? :nice:

thanks again
kieran

4k :O jesus man thats a lot of dolla for an ej9! I do know that where its parked does make a lot of difference though, I get a lot of boys on here wondering how I got my insurance so cheap. I live kinda in the middle of nowhere and this year my EJ9 was £700 standard and £900 with my mods. I was 19 at the time with 1 year no claims

My mate got quoted £3G on a 1.0 litre ibiza insurance is a Joke for people who are starting out!

the random one for me is that my jordan with 5 years no claims is 400 but im looking into putting her off the road over winter and replace her with a runabout n that same policy with 5 years no claims is 500 on an lsi civ

how does that work!

Im just wondering if my insurance would query the favt that its parked that far away

Doubt it mate, they would never know lol Sayin that is a bit dodgy...

you from glasgow yeah, try through my way in stirling area. FK12 5DA, that is a wee villiage 7miles outside stirling. Its about 35miles from glasgow city centre :nice:

ha just got quoted 5766 for your postcode one of my dads mates were sayin that my names on a database of lisences and they see iv only got a provisional so when im getting quoted for a full lisence just passed there just hitting me with random quotes because iv only got a provisional, anyone heard the same thing ?

I wouldn't think insurance companies could have access to DVLA information apart from maybe any stats and statistics, my insurance quote a few years back was cheaper having a provisional than actually having a Full Driving Licence, something like 800 on an EJ, went up slightly when I passed then naturally came down after a few years.

But 4k is a **** load of money to pay man. Have you tried Admiral/elephant with 2 named (experienced) drivers (ask permission of course) that usually brings the quote down a bit.

(Also I have a thread posted in this Forum/Insurance/How Insurance Companies Rate Your Post Code) Worth having a look on there should give an *estimate* on what your risk is / location. Bearing in mind all insurance companies have there own risk factors so its just a rough guide. :p

Area makes a huge difference! Depends if its a really bad area or a quiet area where you wouldnt get any trouble etc.. Have you tried putting the annual mileage down? Higher the mileage more expensive as well.. Also since Glasgow is a city it will be more expensive :/

But yeah insurance sucks balls! I'm 20, just passed start of the year and i was quoted about 7grand for a ek9 with 3 family members each with 20+ years driving lol, its ridiculous! :angry2:

Doubt it mate, they would never know lol Sayin that is a bit dodgy...

They will when you claim, and then you'll have the claim voided and have to tell insurers that you have had a claim void due to obtaining the insurance in a fraudulent way.. this will make insurance either impossible to obtain are even more expensive!

Insurance is mental! My 1.3 Logo Costs more to insure than my B18'd EK9. Go Figure. Granted the logo is on 12k a year, and the civic is on 3k BUT with all the extras like euro break down etc etc, But still..... 4years NCB & Being 24 i think £780 On a 1.3 logo is a bit steep to say the least lol

just thinkin am gettin constintly gettin laughed at by insurance companies, but as a said theres a few people that have been quoted like 12 grand then when they pass its down to 2 thats how a was thinkin about that database of wether there provisional of full licence like people were sayin

I'd reckon it'll be really hard to get a good quote while holding a provisional, unless your a second/third driver.

Because your a guy, under 25, no ncd which doesn't help.
Insurance companies don't know what licence you hold as the quote should be generated through what you put in the boxes. I think most young drivers get he most common quotes of around £1500-£2000, if you can get less then your in son.
