Got under the car at the weekend to find alot of rust... not on the panels under the car but on the wishbones and all the bits and bobs from the suspension...

its surface rust so i don't need new one's i just ant it all to be nice so i know its clean..

Now i thought i'd take the car off the road for a week and sand down each component and paint them..... BUT i then had a thought i'd like some advice on.. or just if i am thinking straight.

Would i be better off sanding the stuff down on the car... and then simply adding Underseal to all the components instead of painting them... underseal being black anyway...

is it a good idea to sand it all down and then add underseal... or shoulkd i paint them and then underseal it all... its annoying me cause the car is clean and clayed and waxed and all that jazz but i know hiding under arches is all that horrible unsightly stuff.. i took the rear wheels off and brushed it all down with a wire brush which got alot of the crap but now its bare ...

So i guess my Question is Paint or underseal.... or both ...paint then underseal..

now i know dan ( jordan101) is the man for this but i'm far to far away to let him sort it out.. :D

any advice welcome... :thanks:

a good rub down with a wire brush and underseal would be the job, i've helped my dad do a few cars and we've never painted them and some of the cars were really bad.

Sweet, thank you mate... just thought i don't want to seal the rust in side itself.. :)

cheers dude.

i've just painted all my suspension components!

i rubbed back and wire brushed the majority of the rust off, used a rust treatment then painted them with hammerite :) looks a million times better now :nice:

i say go for it chris, its all the little things that make a big difference :))

Cheers mate i'll have a crack at it... and you're are right.. little things make a big difference.

like your window wiper bolts ;) :run:

thanks mate :) i highly recommend them the guy who runs the business 'dan' is a super top bloke :nice:

been thinking about doing this too as every time i take my front wheels off it depressing me looking at the rusty looking arms! you guys just sanding them down and then treating them to hammerite underseal?
