Who is good for insurance at the age of 20?

Think you got done mate.

Dont think you could say that when your still paying a grand for an ej9 haha.

I dunno what details some of you are using but Admiral insured me on the s2000 at 21 for 1300.

Try making a multicar policy and stick your mum/dad/etc cars on the policy, this is guaranteed to reduce the price. Adding a few cars to my policy, even if they dont have 11 months till they will be onto the policy, reduced my insurance by 700 pounds.

im 21 with 0 no claims and just insured my 1.4 16v EJ9 for a shade over £2000 with TESCO BANK.

Yeah i think you got done aswell mate,

Im 20 with 0 no claims and insured an EK9 for just over £2k

Give Elephant a call :nice:

I think elephant admiral and bell are all underwritten by the same company. They are cheap.. but you get what you pay for. I currently own a 172 clio cup.
I just put a deposit on an ek9 and my insurance went up £170 from £650 with admiral.
Car value £7000
I will definitely be going with a jap specialist next time i have to insure the car.
I'm 24 3yrs ncb + sp30 3 pts
My quote with sky was roughly £850 for the 9 at the moment, at the time of insurance i will be 25 and be using my club 'hjc' discount. So should be a little better.
p.s cant wait to pick up the 9!!

Insured my EK9 at 20, 2 years NCB. £1200

Just keep entering slight variations of your details. Additional drivers, policy holders etc till you find something cheap

If you dont mind me asking, who are you with now? will be shopping around for my insurance at the end of the month!

I'm currentyly with Aviva! I tried phoning them to see how much it was if i renew it but they won't know till the time comes :/

Quotes vary from different insurance companies and the info you put in, where you park it, even your job title.

Info's put as best as i can lol hard to get it cheaper :(

Less than 3 years NCB forget about cheap
Insurance no such thing

Tell me about in, it sucks!

I turned 21 a couple of weeks ago and was surprised how much my insurance went down so happy with the quotes I am receiving now :D but I have been with elephant since I was 20 and I had the best quotes with them so far!

Just tried checking online for elephant, its still expensive for it :nono:

blue sky is good or fresh air.... They all take the piss on insurance prices, give your details to claims agencies so that more people claim and give them the excuse to drive the prices further up! Its a god dam money racket. Plus i wouldnt be surprised if theres a taint of price fixing between them aswell! They should all be shot! (not literally but you know what i mean)

Haha couldn't agree more! All the idiots crashing etc which also affects us, its sh*t ! :(

i would try admiral mate

I tried online for them, its double what i'm currently paying but might give them a phone when i have time :D

I would ring up companies if was you, i tend to find that they can suit the policy better for you and for me this way been ALOT cheaper than online quotes :)

Yeah i was going to give companies a phone nearer the time when i'm free, i heard it can be cheaper like you said as well :nice:

im 21 with 0 no claims and just insured my 1.4 16v EJ9 for a shade over £2000 with TESCO BANK.

Ouch! But guess that ain't bad considering others paying more than that for ej9's on here!

Mate try Tesco Car Value insurance they gave me the best quote on my jordan and im 19

No fair, Jordan for me is over £4k! :angry2: But i shall give them a try later :D

Ughh unlucky man. Im still around the grand area.

I'm also in the grand area. Cheapest i have found so far is £1400 and that is the basic with no breakdown cover or that, next is £1500.. Thats only if i pay it all at once. If its pay month it works out £1700-1800! :nono:

Im turning 17 in may and trying to get quotes of the Internet and there all over 2'000,is that right? And im trying to get insured with a family member, I think i just ring them up closer to may

2000 is good for a 17 yr old! People on here getting quotes over £4k :/ Plus 17 yr olds are most expensive as they are new drivers so have less experience than others etc!

I get insurance no bother at all but I dont know how! 21 with 3 years no claims and im £642 for my ek9

I guess those 3 years no claims make a huge difference but then fu*k me thats good! I hate you! (not really but no fair)

I was thinking about the multicar policy but then everyone i know, there insurance aint due anytime soon :( Can you add cars even though they are getting insured on another company? And thats a good price for a s2k, i'm getting those quotes for just a ek3 lol :((

Yeah i think you got done aswell mate,

Im 20 with 0 no claims and insured an EK9 for just over £2k

Give Elephant a call :nice:

Don't forget he has a bad postcode which plays a huge part in the price.. But thats a good price, i was getting over £5k for an ek9.

Insured my EK9 at 20, 2 years NCB. £1200

I hate you too haha, not fair how alot of people on here are the same age as me and paying what i'm paying for my ek3! I tried adding 2 more family members and each has drove for 20 years, it didnt go down a penny :nerv:

But thank you everyone for all your help! I'll give all these companies a ring when i'm free! thanks again :D

Haha mate I have alot of mates who hate me too! As I say I duno how I manage cheap quotes. Other examples are with the likes of my ph2 clio 172 at 18,1 years NCB and was £1500 fully comp and at 19 with 2 years NCB I was insuring my astra vxr nurburgring for £1205,guess everyones just different and its a bit of a luck of the draw! It is a pain in the ass all the same!

I hate you even more now  You must have a sh*t hot postcode! When i was 17, it was £2k if i wanted insured under my mum's 1.0l corsa lol.. Times like this i wish i passed my driving when i was 17! Would of helped alot at this stage :( Ah well, guess its different for everyone! Was that under your own name or with someone? I looked into vxr's when i was about 19 and it was over £10k insurance lol :nerv:

Haha yeh I think my postcode is in the best category which will make all the difference! The rest must just be luck! That was on my own policy with my mum and dad put down as named drivers. Theyve all been insured through Admiral or Elephant (same underwriters),as was my mk4 ibiza cupra 1.8 20vt which I had before the 9.

Lol the vxr was a very nice cruiser with plenty power. Fueling it on the other hand was an expensive routine

I was thinking about the multicar policy but then everyone i know, there insurance aint due anytime soon :( Can you add cars even though they are getting insured on another company?

Yes mate, even if the car(s) you want to add have 11 months left on their current policy admiral will still give you the discount. You just give them the policy information and set a date for it too start. Its good, I definitely recommend doing this.

Also if you hadn't thought of this, if you can get quotes down to say 1500(im assuming here since your premiums are so high you are going DD rather than paying in one go and are therefore being quoted for interest rates of 19% and higher, average at work for premiums above 2k are 22.2%) if you pay it in one go for maybe around 1200, this amount would be easier to get a credit card and pay for it that way.

- So much cheaper doing it this way, the amount insurance companies charge for monthly instalments is ridiculous!

It must be considering how cheap your quotes are! :wow: I see, even with them as named drivers thats still really cheap! Admiral and Elephant seem to be expensive for me, but i'll try phone up when i can. You must have alot of money with all these cars haha.. And fuel for alot of cars are expensive with petrol always going up, even my ek3 can be expensive sometimes :(

Oh right didn't know that! I've only tried single car policy with them as well, i shall try the multi car one when i have time :D

I want to pay it in one go rather than paying it monthly since it is cheaper. If i pay it in one go it is around 1500 whereas monthly instalments it works out 1800. Only problem is i'm skint :angry2: Most of my family won't be able to lend a credit card as they have alot to pay etc so i just need to see if i can borrow the money, if not guess monthly is my only option :(( But thank you for letting us know about the multi car :nice:

Yeah as I said I don't know how I get soo lucky with my insurance but I'm not going to grumble! Haha thats only 4 of the cars I've had,I used to be a bit of a Vauxhall enthusiast and I've had 3 Corsa B's aswell lol. On my 7th car by 21!....So as you can probably guess I'd have alot more money if it wasn't for cars!
