Alright people!

I need 2 get some new tyres for the 9, but cant decide which size 2 get! I've got volk te37 and they are 6.5 - 15, and running on some 195/55/15 toyos r888 on the front and some bridgestones potenza on the rear (don't know which ones) The r888 on the front fit the wheel fine but the bridgestones on the rear look like they been stretched on! I'm just thinking if i get some 205/50/15 (will probably be some yoko pradas), they might fit better or are they to wide for 6.5 - 15? or should i go for some 195/50/15 because they have a lower side wall! used 2 have some 195/55/15 toyo t1r on before and the 9 was all over the road and used 2 wear the side wall on the t1r when cornering hard!

I always run 205/50/15 but i have 15x7, also some tires run wide, for example the RE01R in 195/50/15 is actually a wide as a 205/50/15 and my nitto nt01 in 205/50/15 are actually wider than 205!!

check and make sure the other 2 wheels arent 15x7 which was the case with my volk ce28s,2 were 6.5 and 2 were 7

Get 195/50

Smaller sidewall so more responsive steering, smaller rolling radius etc

I used to run 205/50 on oem wheels, no worries with it even though standard wheels are 6" wide

I now run 195/50 R888 and the car feels much better :nice:

Cheers for the info lads:nice

I going 2 see my tyres supplier on the weekend, he said i can try the different sizes on 2 see what fits best:)

hi guys sorry to kind of hijak the thread but i need new tyres also !i dont really understand for example what 205/50/15means. i no it refers to tyre specifications but not sure which is which..i have 98 teg wheels on my ek9.i want new tyres with as low a sidewall as possible and stiff.i never track the car but for me comfort is not an issue it is all about the handling..i want as wide tyres as possible for grip can anyone recommend any good tyres i can get off camskill.com??i was looking at the yokohama AO48 R Advan tyres at 225/45/R16 (m-medium).would these fit my 98teg wheels and what do ppl think of them?? sorry for long post and noob questions.:D

For the street I use 205/50R-15 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2
great tire - pricey but good... hard corning will wear the edges...

I Rally and most racers are using the Toyo R888 - great tire but sucks at high speeds in water - serious hydroplaning... and we had alot of rain in the rally and MANY racer lost their lead...

We used Toyo R1R - great dry and wet... and finish 8th out of 42!

the 205 is the nominal width of the tyre(aross the tread, the 50 is the height of the tyre expresed as a percentage of the width. the 15 is the diamiter of the tyre .
for the teg wheels you could get away with 205's but any more than that and you would have to trial fit them and see , but 205's are more than enough .

i would go for the yokos or maybe DUNLOP DZ03G as i have herd good things

:nice:

thanks for the reply mate:)there is brigdestones on it at the moment and the are 215/45/R16 so i persume i would get away with the 215/45/R16 with the yokohama advan ao48 aswell ???:blinx:

yeh if it isnt causing you any problems at the moment then you can run them fine, sometimes buy design yokos are abit wider but not enough that its gonna cause a problem just wasnt to sure about much past a 205. :D
