Which Skunk2 Coilovers To Buy?

Hey ek9 community,

I signed up on ek9.org today and have been checking out the great site. Ok, so I just bought a 2000 Civic ek hatch today and I'm interested in lowering it with Skunk2 coilovers. I've been doing some research and have a couple questions.

1. Besides the price, what's the difference between Skunk2 Pro S Full Coilovers and Skunk2 Coilover Sleeves?

2. Should I buy adjustable or non-adjustable shocks?

My ef9 has non-adjustable eibach springs and non-adjustable Tokico blue shocks and I hate not having the control over ride height. So that's my reason to buy coilovers for my ek hatch.

I'd appreciate your opinions...thanks! :)

ok first of all what do you want from the setup. every day use with the odd track. or just to drop the car

well the sleeves they are not true coilovers. Sleeves allow you to adjust ride height by adjusting a spring perch up or down. It is kind of hard to explain. IMO, stay away from these.

now coilovers i cant drive cars without these i love them IMO i always buy tein super street but i have been told good things about the skunk 2 ones. buy adjustable coilovers as your not stuck with the same spring rate it costs more but worth it.

Ground Control sleeves and Koni Yellow dampers is the way to go, gives you hieght and rebound adjustment like any basic coilover, but will be a higher quality setup than generic cheap chinese coilovers. Plus side is you can choose your spring rates and it is cheap and easy to change them if you are not happy. Front and rear springs are the same so if you buy a 6k/4k setup and want stiffer, shift the 6k to the back and just buy 8k fronts! :nice:

I have the skunk2 Pro S coilover's, And I'm sure they are 8k front and 6k rear, I was on a bit of a budget at the time and they are great for the price, They are solid and have ran them for over two years now and adjusted the height about 2 weeks ago and no seizing of the rings or anything.

If I was doing it again, I would buy damping adjustable coilover's, Skunk2 Pro-C's look awesome IMO :nice:

Thanks a lot for everyone's input!

@Niall...It's going to be for everyday use and I'm not planning to take it to the track. The more I'm researching a full coilover set, the more I'm inclined to buy it. Seems like a good investment.

@Kozy...thanks for the advice mate! I'll check into that.

@Kipper...That's good to hear about your setup. Skunk2s seems to be good quality. The Pro-Cs may be for me since I need the height adjustment. I'm going baby my ek and treat it right! Plus I've learned the getting the correct suspension is well worth it. My ef9 was nice, but it was my first time fixing up a car and it actually seems to be a tad higher in the front than the back...very weird!
