Hi guys.
I have already asked this question to DC2 community, and I thought that I might ask you as well, so here goes:

I intend to make my dream come true and finally buy myself a Type R soon.

I know more less about differences between those two cars in terms of performance and everyday driving, however I would still like to hear your opinions.

This car will be my only vehicle. I intend to drive it to work (short routes) as well as take my friends (2-3 additional passengers) for sightseeing around Ireland. The boot should be able to fit at least one, bigger travel bag.

I heard that DC2 is "loud" and could be annoying on longer routes, but I do not know if EK9 is that loud as well. I also heard that EK9 is more comfortable.

I intend to test drive both of them, but I would appreciate your opinions on both of them (or EK9 at least) in terms of everyday use.

Thanks,

In terms of road noise one is as bad as the other both cars are stripped of any sound damping insulation(to save on weight) even the windows are thiner on these than domestic models. Integra has A bigger boot but in saying that I have had no problem with putting A large size bag in the boot of my civic with room to spare. They both come with recardo's and the ride is very similar. In terms of power the integra R has abit more, but the civic R will not be far off after all the B16B engine is essentially A de-stroked B18C integra engine. You may find it hard getting insurance on the integra but the civic R will be ok as its not above 1600cc. Your probally aware that with hibernain insurance if you do and pass there ignition coarse you will benefit from A 20% discount on your insurance with A car not bigger than 1600cc, Looks like the civic type r is taking the pole position

The EK9 hatch is cavernous, plenty of space. The interior is also more spacious, with bigger windows. The civic is lighter than the integra, giving it more performance potentional in that aspect, while the integra has a stiffer roof structure and a better drag coefficient (this tight, round roof shape gives it upper chassis stiffness/low drag, but makes the interior less roomy.)

Standard the EK9 makes a great soundtrack, how noisy you go depends on your aftermarket exhaust choice. Loads of space inside, excellent driving position, maybe easier to park than a Teg. Slightly more economical for the 1.6. Handling is awsome on both cars so down to personal choice eh :nice:

id rather an ek9 . dc2 is too common on irish roads. especially in white

Yeah, I have to say I was not expecting to see so many DC2's in Ireland, there is quite many of them around Dublin.

I have seen very little of EK9, they are still very rare.

With the stock exhausts both of them are not loud, once I had 3 passengers in my ek9, no problems at all, all of them where comfortable and the car handled good.

I had a mugen exhaust + catalyst, and the car was not loud at all.

In my opinion the B16B 1600cc motor is louder than the B18C 1800cc motor, because the sound is a bit more louder at higher rpms :)
