What work is involved in having new rear arches

Ah thats gash for you mate, you sounded well chuffed you'd found it aswell...
will do mate, if not hopefully something will come up for you bud

Get yourself down to Les Bedford's, my Bro inlaw works there. They have done rear arches/ Quarters on EK's before. If done properly the rust does'nt come back, just need to clean the backs of the welds if your not over lapping that is. Most EK's have rust here, need to sort mine out soon.

hey mate, I know where that is, would take it there but he tried to take me for a ride price wise last time mate and TBH it was out of order.
he obviously didn't know i understood what he was talking about.

He wanted £325 to spray my bonnet on my EK4.... the bonnet needed no prep work at all.

I am in no way slatting his work as i have seen some of his work and it is such high quality but i actually lost respect when he gave me that price..
maybe he was pricing me out and didn't wanna do it but still thats mad price..

As i said mate no offence to you're bro inlaw at all. i may go down and get a quote but sure you understand after last time he will try it again no doubt.

thanks for your help though mate appreciate it.

Yeh, bloody frustrating to say the least. I'll find another though if he doesn't come through, just keep an eye on ebay/autotrader.

this is a issue that i am tangled in, i knew the car had minor rust when i got the car but it really is minor.. the dent... not so minor lol, but hey... it`s always repairable!! some douchebag has pranged rear drivers quarter and where its moved the bumper its cracked the paint on the fixing holes so its rusted ever so slightly but the metal doesn`t flex so their still solid, also the passenger side just above the skirt has a light bubble to nothing that cant be repaired so im going to sort my exhaust coz its too good to miss out on and get it sorted next month. will add piks tomorra for you to see severity and let you all be the judges lol

One thing I don't understand is when you do major repairs like a whole new rear quarter is how do you make sure to paint all the welds etc on the inside to stop rust?

That's why I don't understand why people get their shells acid dipped, surely it would rust like beggary on the inside?

Buy an arch repair kit from lings, Take it to a bodyshop and they will use what is needed off the repair kit to sort the arch, just make sure the inner arch isnt gubbed as well

I did this for my jordan as the passenger arch was hanging off it, No problems, Just find a decent bodyshop that knows what they are doing?

I got charged 250 to weld in and spray the whole quater :)

i'm guessing lings is the name of your local honda garage... its Holden honda over this way.
How much was the arch kit if you don't mind me asking as i can't find it anywhere...??
also the body shop that quoated you that much would you have their name at all, as that is a very good price...

thanks for the help mate

oh yeh.. bargain exhaust is all down to the mod god himsel... mr topher-ek4 :)) and what a diamond he is!!! the way i see it.. in this day and age, with the technology we`ve got, there is nothing that isn`t repairable e.g.

this is the bracket on the drivers side rear arch:

this is the fookin great dent in my drivers rear wing that has cracked the paint:

and this is the passenger rear arch just above the skirt:

but as i said... its all repairable, and yeh i could buy a better nick one for the same price or less, but i dont want to!! i want to sit back at the end of my project and say here`s what it looked like when i bought it.. (a **** heap) and here`s it now.. (an absolute beast) lol its more appreciated when you`ve really transformed a car, more to the point... YOU`VE SAVED A CIVIC!!!!

Check out Lings' website mate, they will sell you pretty much anything you need in terms of OEM Honda parts, plus they have all prices listed :nice:

Rear quarters for mine turned out to be £180 per side, but I need inner wheel arch as well, another £150 per side, plus the nightmare of cutting/welding/painting.... more work, but much cheaper to get another car for me

HONDA CIVIC 1995-2001 REAR WHEEL ARCH 3 DOOR HATCHBACK on eBay (end time 04-Apr-11 19:37:27 BST)

Get the arch there, Bodyshop will use what is required.

Also no point giving you the bodyshop i use as i live in the highlands of scotland, Just go see a local bodyshop to you and tell them what you want, It will also be easier if you supplied the arch probally cost less to

Hope this is some help to you topher :)
