Had a search through the forum and couldn't find any decent results. Just want to get everybody's opinion on what wax or polish they use on their car and if they use anything like rain away on their windows. Also does anyone take any extra care around winter time, duento snow and gritters etc.?

i really like the autoglym HD wax. Easy to use and great results. Polish I again use the autoglym range of polishes. Cant fault them

but not worth polishing with anything if you dont clay bar the car first imo

I've tryed most polishes an meguires is the best stuff I have ever used, check out my previous cars to see my results. I'll give you a little tip polish one panel at a time and do it twice maybe three times, takes a while but the results are amazing

meguiars. even just the gold class wash and wax gives great results :nice:

if your paint is contaminated go over it with a clay bar after the wash, then wash it again, dry then wax :)

oh and use microfibre towels

Im a fan of the Chemical Guys range, both hand and machine, and also the AG super resin. These work well with the CW paint on Hondas.

Ive also found that using a couple of layers of high gloss sealant works better than wax imo.

In winter, car gets a couple coats of wax over the sealant to make it last a bit longer.

Polish makes paint look better due to filling the swirls damage.
Werkstat acrylic kit is the best I've used.

and here is the reflection of my EK9 bonnet.. paint in places had eggshell due to a poor finish by the sprayer but this is only in the top left corner. as you can see tech wax is **** hot for reflection and GLoss wet look shine :)

I have most of the autoglym range and they are spot on.
My friend swears by poor boys polish and waxes, seem to work well on his white Audi and green mr2.

poor boys, chemical guys, sonus, menzerna are all brilliant for polish and waxes as you can get different grades of particle size. My only gripe about meguairs stuff, especially their polish is that it can be a pain to buff off other than that its good. As said by others mask the rubber and plastics off and do a panel or two at a time.

WOW! That's amazing, want to do my car :))

You guys get some really wicked results. What is a clay bar by the way? Also do you need a different product for a carbon fibre bonnet?

Clay bar is used after washing a car and before using polish etc.

It picks up all sorts of crap stuck to the paintwork like tar spots etc meaning you have a good clean surface to attack with polish and likes.

Its like putty you wipe over car panels (headlights/tails also) but you need to keep panel wet with "quick detailer" solution or some clay bars work with water which saves on the costs.

The clay pics up lots of crap as you will see after doing a small panel, you also need to fold the putty when it gets dirty.

Oh right thanks for the info. It makes sense but sounds like bloody hard work. I suppose the results speak for themselves though. After seeing everyone's pics of their shiny cars.

i use a little known natural method called rain water.
in winter i sometimes use snow.
but really...i'm just too lazy to wash my own car and all the small scratches and dings/dents put me off :(

Collinite 476 for me this time of year, very much doubt you will find a longer lasting wax. In summer I prefer dodo juice range.
Polish wise I use the megs range for correction work, and autoglym SRP.
Clay I find the best is bilt hamber, and the price is amazing for the amount you get.
But you shouldn't be claying very often at all, like once a year probably...
