What makes an EK9

i was just having a chat with my mate about this subject. we both know this guy who apparently has an ek9 but the only thing jdm about the car is the b16b and ofcourse converted the seats interior etc to make it like ek9.

But the car is uk registered when first brought. but evryone calls it ek9 even though its just been converted. what you guys think i know that if it was me i just say its a converted civic to a ek9 but he goes around saying its a true type R. what would you call it if you know or your self done this ?

If it does not have EK9 in the vin tag it is not an EK9, its that simple.

It does not matter how many mods and add on's it has, that is a FACT. I myself have a converted EJ6, and i tell people i have an EJ6, nothing will ever change my EJ6.
 
As Blinx said, The Vin plate/ Chassis plate in the engine bay will tell you all ;)
 
I doubt he will have the seam welded chasis, extra chasis bars, 5 stud , prob has a rear wiper, prob still has sound dead just flip his bonnet and check his blue VIN tag.

Then just explain that its not an EK9 as the most inportant thing about the EK9 is the chassis, engine and generally how light it is. Without some major work his car wont be a as light or have the seam welding. All he has is an Ek3 with some seats and B16B. Round a track im sure you would see the difference. Straight line he prob wont be far off.

I dont mind replicas, I think some are really well done but one thing i hate is people saying ...

'' I have an Ek9 .... no you dont .... what you mean ? I have the engine and the seats that makes it an Ek9..... no it really dosent ''

Ian on here had a nicely modified Ek4 and when he got his Ek9 he really noticed a difference. Search for the thread Ek4 Ek9 comparision. Its the things you dont see that make the EK9, the things that make it a great track day car.

lol i will defantly, that is well explained Ben not many ppl know about the chassis and how it is made etc they just amatuers thinking it is the engine thats makes the car, its more to that the suspension set up the brakes etc.

i have ppl coming upto me saying is my ek4 a typer just because i blitz them in a race just imainge if they really faced a EK9 ;) they are so wrong. i always say what it is not what it is like.

lol i try get this guy to sign up only prob is its my mates mate dont really know him :(
