Basically my car is at R-Motion having a 96 spec B18C-R engine fitted as my B18C6 was smoking pretty badly. I was running a C6 Spoon ECU but now im running a C-R would it be worth getting a JDM 96 spec DC2 ECU rather than using my Spoon C6 ECU? As i understand one of the reasons the UK tegs make less power is down to the ECU. I believe they are both OBD2A so both will fit. Cheers.

If a fully programable ecu is not and option I think you should be ok with your spoon ecu.

I'll be getting it mapped by Romain on a P28 that i already have in January mate. I just don't want to be down on power until then by using a C6 ECU, or are the CR and C6 Spoon ECU's the same?

In my opinion you can run the B18C6 Spoon Ecu since the difference between the B18C6 and the JDM ITR B18C motor its around 5-10 bhp..

You should be ok until you get the fully programmable ecu. :secret:

Spoon ecu will be fine, obviously custom tune is better but will see you through.

Ok cheers guys. Think im going to ditch the C6 Spoon ECU now and buy a JDM ECU for £70. The extra money for the Spoon ECU can then be put towards the map at Eurospec :) Only reason i asked was i went out in a JDM DC2 earlier and it seemed quicker and the crossover was more aggressive than my C6 with a Spoon ECU and i dont want to be spending all this money and be p****d off when i drive it and its not any quicker than before lol

By far this is the best you can do :nice:

Cheers mate appreciate the advice :) will buy that ECU right now!

Aggressive crossover isn't always a good thing. Shows there is a hole in the tune where you can be making a lot more power.
Also because something feels faster doesn't make it so. It's probably due to the crossover not being tuned properly and your feeling a jump in torque as the high cam comes in too late.

Spot on! This spoon balls is dangerous i think but each to their own

Completely see where you're coming from, im just worried my car will be making less power with a spoon c6 ecu over a standard jdm b18c-r ecu

Dont be expecting to much extra power, the main reason the C6 was lower power than the JDM B18C was due to the exhaust manifold, the 2.25 on the C6 was far to small. My DC2 has a C6 with a 96 spec Ex Manifold and UKDM ECU, and my friends 96 spec DC2 ansd they are exactly the same power and only really down to driver skill whos is faster.

Only real engine difference is JDM points!!

Right ok i see, im getting her mapped on crome anyway just dont want to be using any excuses if its not as fast as i think its going to be in the meantime!
