Hi all,

Finally managed to get my car back on the road which has been resting up for 6 months. In that time I removed the head and installed new valve stem oil seals , lapped the valves ( with a good seat no pitting ) new head gasket and timing belt etc. I also dropped a ITR valve train and cams in. I took it for a quick spin yesterday and plumes of smoke appear on WOT.

Now my initial suspicions ate that it's either the rings got rusty when I had the head off although I lubed the head up with oil, or one of the stem seals is not seated properly?

What do I do? A full mild rebuild with slightly raised compression or just a full OEM build? Or b18?

Cheers

Joe

It was very difficult to say because I was driving on my own, but from what I could see the most smoke came during WOT, and on decel too.

I checked the oil levels before and after the drive (20-25mins) and there was little to no change on the oil dipstick. The engine idles fine, it reaches temperature as it should.

I'll have time at the weekend to check the compression too...

It's hard to say really... I'm leaning more toward improper installation of the stem seals at the moment.

I'M free all Saturday if you want a hand a hand mate, even if it's just to observe when it's smoking.
