weird whistling noise b20

after prolonged periods of running,

the car makes a strange whistling noise on idle, (quite loud)

it goes away when driving though.

i currently have no pcv setup as im not reving the car very high (and cant afford one :D)

so dunno if its a pressure build up.

any opinions?
 
Do you have an open air filter ? Might be just at a specific rpm where its causing a whistle in the intake.. I hear it in mine sometimes driving ... sounds like a turbo spooling ha ha
 
its defo not a belt.

could be a vacuum leak, my car pulls a very bad vacuum but i thought that was

because of the big cams its running.

the breather pipe at the rocker cover is going into a coke can,

i had a filter on it but it was venting to much vapour into the bay so changed it.
 
does it go when u rev the car. i had a similar problem before and it turned out to be the water pump on its last legs.

yea it goes away if you blip it or change the revs up.

awh dont say that lol, its a brand new OEM honda one
 
Ha ha, whats the car been mapped on ? Has it been doing this since tuned ? Is the noise coming from the IACV (you'll need to listen close to it) ?

it has a road map tuned with chrome on it for now.

injectors are maxed out and im a bit smashed so its staying like that for now.

yea my old stock b20 never did it. hopefully it will do it later and ill try pinpoint

it as you said. it just sounds like pressure being released.

should i be worried bout crankcase pressures at the moment, its only reving to

7500k and doesnt get the hoop driven out of it.... too much
 
How does it idle ? What injectors are you using ? How do you know there maxed out ?

it idles pretty well, sits at around 1k constantly.

im using obd2 310cc injectors with a 7.5k redline.

chrome and the afrs told us so set the redline at that until i get bigger injectors
 
Cromes injector DC don't mean nothing. So you were adding fuel but having no change in AFR ? I'm not sure on the wistling noise.. I'm still thinking...
