What differentiates one B16xx engine from another? To be more specific, what differentiates a B16B engine from a B16A2. Is it the combination of all the different components, or is it even more significant than that (ie. the engine block itself or whatever it's called).
A glance at the B-series engine article on Wikipedia gives me some idea as to the answer (that being 'yes' to both of the above) but I thought I'd go for a more knowledgeable answer.

Bonus points for links to relevant articles.

Three of those threads I had already read. I managed to somehow completely miss the one that answered my question. I'm an idiot.

Thanks!

I would just say that what B16A and B16B share in common is the fact that they have the same crank, and both being Dohc Vtec! The rest are for discussion! :D Every component contributes to the others so, everything is important even the fact that B16B has higher deck height :drive:
Bonus points?? :angry2: I thought it was bonus($$$)

:blinx: not exactly, that is somewhat of a misconception. :blinx:

while the stroke of the b16a and b16b crank is the same, the cranks are NOT the same.

-the b16b crank uses the GSR/ITR main bearing size while the b16a uses the b16a bearing size (smaller bearing)
-the b16b crank is fully balanced
-the b16b crank is heavier, yes the b16B crank is heavier.
-the b16b crank will NOT fit in a b16a block and a b16b crank will NOT fit in a b16a block.

I meant they have the same displacement! :naughty: My mistake!

Why are you repeating your phrases?? We got it ok?!?! :D
