hey guys i have a 96 cx model(canadian) and i have water entering my trunk but i cant figure out where it could be coming from...
i changed the gasket between the tail lights and the body,i siliconed around the tail lights all together i tried running water on top of the car hoping to track it but nothing any ideas?

i have this same problem. i think mine was the tail light. cos even for a few days after siliconed the light there still seamed to be water in my boot/trunk but think that was just exess water that was down the sides and everytime you go round a corner or brake it would run into the boot. seems ok now will let you know in the morning as it is really heavy rain just now.

try observing it during the dry days..sometimes its normal specially when it rained the other day and when you open your trunk water would eventually find its way on the corners thus leaking to the trunk...

Yes mate, i think it's normal on eks.

I had the same problem with my vti.

I've not come accros one EK that does not do this, my bro's teg does it aswell!

ye its normal on civic's its an easy fix tho as long as its just the tail lights.

Ive been having it to i just dryed out the Gasket & Hotglued it back onto the light n it seemd to be fine now

yea thats one possible cause but with my civic i cant figure out where it could be coming from...on that note i have a crack on my right tail light where the reverse light is but no water is coming from that end its usually the left side i also just did some body work on it the last year thanks to the shitty snow here aka salt everywhere so other then that i still have no idea where it could be....

Had the same problem on my previous civic (ej9, the same chassis as yours), replace or fix the gaskets on taillights. Remove the rear bumper, check and clean the vents for outgoing air. Should help.

thats the only thing that i havent done yet take out the bumper but yea ill try that in the spring cause its starting to snow up here in canada lol thanks and im 99 percent sure its not my actual tailights...

Has your back window been replaced? Also try checking around your spoiler.

You say that but have you checked the Gasket on it ?

I've had this problem on two EK's it's well annoying as ur windows all fog up in cold weather. I've heard changing and resealing the rear lights is best way of getting rid of the problem.

my 1st ej9 never leaked even after some1 crashing in2 the back of me boot was kinked and the bit round the spare wheel was pushed in and split, still never leaked. new ej9 does leak tho :( havnt got a good chance to look at it yet tho... sealed the (uk) passenger side tail light not sure if its still leaking now or just not dried yet might swap with old cars lights.

ill strip out the seats and all the plastics in the back to get it sorted if i have to lol.:D

I had the same problem on my ek coupe... I siliconed around my taillights, and i had a minor hole on the bottom corners of my back window(i siliconed that also). That seemed to reduce the leak by alot. Instead of having a huge puddle i have a sweaty trunk

This is where it comes in. You can see the water sitting there waiting to overflow into the car. Also fills up the backlights too.

We put new seals on, problem solved.
