A little help here for a honda virgin..

Just emailed a garage about two EK9's they have, and the guy said one has a V-tech controller and rmp efficiency indicator, but the other ek9 is completly standard.. what does this mean? Im an ex-peugeot owner.. we dont understand this.. lol any help would be appreciated, thanks guys n girls! :nice:

get the completly standard one, vtec controllers are junk, been covered a few times on here, basically they do not provide ignition correction

Do you think i could just get that one anyway, but take that vtec controller thing out? or is hassle? the standard ek9 doesnt look as nice as this one, and it doesnt have the white alloys. where as this one with the vtec thing does.

My advice go with the standard one, less chance of being abused.

A vtec controller aloows u to change the point the VTEC kicks in, for example if you wanted to inprove fuel econemy you would raise it so you wont be driving around in the vtec. Or if you wanted to have the vtec kick in earlier if you racing ( you should be in vtec anyway so more for starts ) you can set it to be lower. It wont affect power and IMO is a pointless mod but each to there own.

Rpm efficency indicator not sure what that is but this is what google said :-

''In accordance with the present invention, apparatus is provided for determining instant readings of revolutions per minute (r.p.m.) and engine efficiency (ratio of fuel input to engine revolutions) and an averaged reading of r.p.m. and engine efficiency. The apparatus provides electrolytic cells forming a first energy reservoir into which energy is introduced proportional to the r.p.m. of the engine and a second energy reservoir into which energy is introduced proportional to engine efficiency, for a predetermined length of time. The introduced energy is then extracted from the reservoirs while a corresponding registration is obtained, such registration thereby being an average of engine r.p.m. and of engine efficiency under the given operating conditions. ''

Hope this helps

Buy the standar one IMO.

looks like il just have to go with that one and get the controller removed, either that or they swap the alloys over on the cars, lol. Thanks for your help guys.

few nice ek9`s for sale in teh for sale section on here you thought about them?!!?

Yeh, ive been watching for a couple of weeks now, the right one just hasnt come along within the budget, but it might just be this one iv been talkin about! will wait and see....

It strikes me that if it was standard, it would already have white wheels. I'd be suspicious about what else could be non-standard on there, the bloke could be tellin porkies..

Is the guy a reputable importer?

Whats vtech??

???

You should remove it, it doesn't really help that much.

Removing this vtec controller should be easy, you should find a harness between the ecu and the car's harness, maybe you can post some photos so we can help you better :)

true.. shoulda thought of that actually.

Whereis it u have seen these car's?
What's the garage called.
Make sure it is a repartable place!

Yer watch out people know EK's are worth alot of money and will try and rip you off when they can. There are a few people on here who havesold many cars to members and would give you a genuine car and service, it may cost a little more but worth it for a Minter.

Dont rush into buying any car and dont be afraid to walk away if something smells fishy.

Garage is in manchester, the two cars can be found on a pistonheads.com advert obviously under honda. and yeh il look into it more before going ahead with anything.

Hmmmm id be warry of those 2 they seem cheap for how many miles they have done. Now that could mean they dont know value of them or they have been clocked. Not saying they have for sure but this one has a very worn cam cover and drivers mat for 41k miles.

Z Motor : Honda Civic EK9 1.6 V-TEC Type R

This one is the better of the 2 the mods done are easy to remove and the wheels look **** on the other one.

Z Motor : EK9 1.6 V-TEC Type R

Just watch it with clocking its easily done when imports are coverted. Ask to see the japanese import papers it should have mileage on there take your calculator along and do a coversion it will take 1 min and might save you buying a clocked car.

ah right ok, thanks for that. Meant to say the one with the shitty wheels has 39k on it and white wheels has 41k, as i asked them today. i agree, wheels look ****, so id have to go for other one if i did. But firstly, id have to look into this clocking of the cars.

If i was you mate i'd steer well clear of those 2, have you seen the way someones gone to town under the bonnet with a can of silver spray paint!?!

Check out the vtec solenoid cover, mani heatshield and PS pump bracket on that first one!

Alarm bells are ringing lookin at that....
