Vtec Challenge - Boost??

i don't wish to cause an Hate, but as far as i see it Honda DID NOT make a Turbo Vtec...

What i am getting at is the fact it is the VTEC challenge surely says something, Yes yes i know a turbo Vtec is still a Vtec but i think you are missing the point.. i'm not trying to rain on your parade but its for Vtec's and a vtec turbo, although it HAS Vtec, is NOT a Vtec. I hope i make sense lol.

As far as i see it, it is for Vtec purists, now i know you are a purist of course but i mean people who Literally only deal with Vtec..

I really think you are barking at a brick wall on this one.

*please take this as grown ups and as a discussion* ;)

I share your views on turbo car too but just trying to think of it whilst removing my opinion.

yh and would be loads of fire with cars blowing up, after so much abuse for a long period of time

I use my boosted Honda on track a fair bit, give it a right beasting every time. So far it's I've had no really dramas, just usual wear and tare.

Hahaha sorry mate, couldnt help but laugh, as u were so carefull writing this to make sure no one was gona bite.

Im 100% with you on this one lol but being a boost bitch i was just trying my chances.

So glad thie forum aint like 90% of others, this woulda probably been locked by now elsewhere.

Nuno.

i have asked this already on vtec chaallenge forum and most people were aggainst it saying it would be to quick compared and also unfair as its a cheaper series, my argument was if i was running 300hp for example how would this be quicker than a well set up n/a k20? hmm as for cheaper series r-motion have a k20 eg that there getting up to 250bhp to 300hp so how is this a cheaper series and not going to be smashing everyone?

i think they would be best to add it to there tuner class as this allows the more powerful stuff and my turbo plan would be great :)

did you go to there donnington session? as they were allowing no restrictions so turbo was allowed as long as car was msa regs and national b.

Always have taken the diplomatic approach :)

And i've followed your builds mate i know youre a boost bitch that much is obvious. to your builds lol.

maybe they should see if they can get enough people interested and start a Boost vtec challenge, still all honda but with boost. have like different classes for different power outputs.. I guess they'd be more than happy to do it if they got enough people involved. after all Turbo honda's seem to be the way to go now, as chap said above a 300Hp K20a is mega bucks compared to getting 300Hp out of a boosted B18C4

Would be really cool if they did allow us boosted honda's into the vtec challenege :nice: because the only other series that caters for us is time attack

there is also the cnc challenge which all race together but allows basically any car, from the vtec challenge who joined them in anglesey as they didnt have enough numbers, to 400hp rx7`s, the mini z cars (wow) and a 800hp elise based v8 animal, amounst others. spoke to the guy who raced the elise cpoy and omg it was amazing

im sure what ek9mike means, is allow hondas only to race together on track just like the current classes, but with boost allowed.

we dont wana do hill climb or time attack, otherwise we would do.

I know what he means but when he said the only other series is timeattack,(obviously that isnt door to door racing) I mentioned the hills and sprints:nice:

i was going to mention time attacks, but there is a big difference between some honda's racing with turbo vtecs and The gobstopper lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPKjb80fOPc&feature=fvwrel

also time attack is not really a race is it ? i mean i know it is racing but its not from the grid to finish line so to speak.

i think these chaps want a Honda only Turbo version of the current Vtec challenge. No more and no less lol.

hills and sprints again, it is not the racing i described above.

all this torque ( see what i did there ;) ) of a Vtec turbo challenge makes me want to see it materialise even more now.

lols

and the gobstopper is just.....yeah lol

IMHO this needs to happen, people can say "u guys want it but u will never show up"

believe me, if a boosted section is a go, there will be more boosted cars racing than NA.

1 of the main reasons being price, boosting a honda is the cheap way to go fast, NA is the expensive way to go slow.

Yeh thats exactly what i was getting at there isnt really any championship that allows us boosted honda's to do door to door racing. I have done hillclimbs with the car when it was n/a and thought it was a blast, hoping to maybe compete at my local round fintray next year. Really also wanting to get a round of Time attack in also.
I feel we need to get the point out there and show that boosted honda's arent only just good in a straight line! and with the right mods can be very effective out on track. All we need is a championship to compete in and im sure the cars will turn up.

lets get this going lads!

if we show enough love, its gota happen at some point.

The VTC has been running for two years, but have probably averaged only twelve cars per race, its n/a, there are plenty of Honda forums of people bleating on about how n/a is best, so you might think there would be more entrants. Hondas on track has been running for several years, yet still cannot command a Honda only trackday - open pit, due to numbers.

What makes you think the turbo cars would make the right numbers? Cost, n/a versus turbo?

because to be competitve with a NA car you need deep pockets.

to be competitive with a boosted car, its half the cost.

IMHO of corse.

at the end of the day vtc is very green, it needs someone to grab it by the nuts hard and really get it out there etc show the world how amazing hondas are on track. theres always plenty of hondas on track days, just needs the right amount of organisation.

again all IMO.

Nuno.

Its not all deep pockets, Daves yellow CRX is very competetive due to power to weight, the PAW Integra, just a H swap and probably has the most wins, Mike also did win in the B16 EG.
Mike & kris have done a great job trying to reach people with the series, could not have done more in my opinion, maybe the jury is still out on numbers. The trouble with trackdays is there really isnt that many Hondas on the track, certainly not in ratio to the money people spend on track based products. Hondas on track is an extremley well organised club, but the numbers are just not there, compare it to say the Mitsubishi club whos days are all open pit, even commanding a day at Spa, there are many more Honda clubs.

Totally agree with you Nuno :nice: there is loads of honda's at every trackday, and for example at the last track scotland open pit trackday only a few weeks ago 3 of the 5 honda's there were boosted!.
Like what has vtc got to lose if they just run a turbo class for one event and see how it goes and if they want to carry it on???

There was an open, all comers event was at Donington a month ago which was well advertised months in advance over facebook and pretty much all the Honda forums. It didn't even get any interest.

Personally I haven't actually seen that many turbo'd hondas on trackdays, but I don't think you can count on that logic anyway. There are hundreds of N/A hondas out there doing trackdays and we struggle to get 15 cars on the grid, so on the same basis it's not really likely that more than one or two of those FI cars would make the leap into racing.

I won't bleat on again, but if people are serious about racing, there are LOADS of series which your cars would fit into. Personally I think it's better fun to ditch those snails and come racing with us where it's closer and cleaner, but those are your options. I wouldn't count on the VTC going turbo as it really is unlikely for many reasons.
