hi peeps!
when im driving my ek9 and increase in speed my dash board vibrates very badly and more so the harder you have the accelerator down, this then stops at any speed if i dip the clutch, am i right in saying it is a gearbox problem. Just need some ideas and suggestion on what the problem could be. cheers gazza

If the vibrations are a bit violent, horizontal/ left to right vibrations then one of your driveshafts sliding-tripod joints (inboard joints) has gone out of clearence.

The clutch cannot give you this kind of vibration.

Raise the vehicle onto axle stands, inspect all four rubber boots for a tear or minor puncture mark. Youll most likely find one of the inboard joints has lost all of its grease onto the surrounding area. You should be aware that roads with a temp advisory 10mph seed limit etc because of loose stone chippings should be adhereed to 100%. One of those chippings can easily puncture one of the boots.

With the car raisedhold the inboard cup and rotate the wheel back and forth slightly, the bad joint you will notice 'clicks' at the extent of each movement back/forth you will hear it quite prominantly compared to the other side. Then its a case of replacing that driveshaft.

That will solve your problem. :nice:

I came across the same thing in an Accord. It turned out to be a drive shaft. When on the lift if you pulled both the shafts one moved in and out a lot more and this was the faulty one. They do however have some play in them so dont be fooled into thinking they are both faulty:nice:
