Im thinking of buying an ek9, and love the idea of turboing one. Ive always wanted a car with some boost, and what better than a vtec boost!

Just cant figure out why there is such a price difference between some turbo kits!

Heres a cheap on
HONDA CRX CIVIC DEL SOL B16 B18 T3T4 TURBO CHARGER KIT | eBay

But whats the difference between that and this?

B16/B18 Basic Turbo Kit - £1,595.00 : Race-Tech, Bring Your Car To Life

And then theres kits at around £2,500!?

So what should i look for in a turbo kit?

I know that you get what you pay for, so the cheap one is going to be cheaply built, but how big a difference is there?

Also any reccomendations on which one to buy?

Cheers in advance

there's a turbo'd ek9 for sale at the moment, why not say yourself alot of time and money and look into that one? just a thought.

+1

And eBay kits are generally ****. Race-tech are meant to be decent and I think they do a drive through fitting service (I often get mixed up with all the companies names so might be wrong). Or you can source your own bits and spend even more like me.

not all you see on ebay its **** but you better of with the other one that one on ebay got the diy pipinng its a pain in the neck never goes the way it shoould be

There is a decent looking greddy kit on eBay, a turboed ek9 in black on piston heads, otherwise a race tech kit is your other option, cheapest would be the ek9 with one already set up, needs a little tidy up that's all:nice:

That be mine boosted 9 on PH :) They are mega, but the b16b is a bitch to tune in stock form! Mine died because of det, hence pulling it and dropping in the B18...no dramas in 8 months of heavy use :D

Im not a fan of black cars tbh, whites more my colour

Also ive never tuned a car before, so kinda want to start from scratch. Just to say i did all the work. Might spend more doing it, but will learn in the process.

Dont really want a car somebody else has made there own.

But a good point, mabye if a type r came up that was turbo'd in the next couple months.........

Also the Greddy kit on eBay is just the intercooler, not the whole turbo set up unfortunatly :(

What turbo kits have other people used?

alot of guys tend to mix and match components as they go. Go autoworks gets my vote as it seems to be good quality stuff. i'll await the turbo heads on the site to reply with some more informative answers. :D

It's a full kit, that would be an extremely expensive intercooler

Good point, i just looked at the first picture and never saw a turbo, i should of looked at all the pics! DOH!! :angry2: haha

Thats an alright price! Should mabye keep an eye out on second hand kits, mabye get the parts refurbed ect.

Cheers for that :p

Still waiting to see what the guys are actually using on here tho!

I have a turbonetics kit i am about to sell if your interested give me a shout ;)

Tbh for the money, the GReedy kit is pretty **** compared to whats available these days! Ricky Race-Tech kit is awesome value for money, provern on a LOT of cars and comes with warrenty. Or as elchunk said, buy different quality parts yourself and make your own kit up. Id stay well clear of ebay turbo stuff tbh! The manifolds crack, the fitment is shite, and some of the turbos have amazing faliures on them!!!

Thats the kind of advice im looking for!

So the race-tech kit, is better than the greddy kit?
Is the greddy kit just getting old?
Warrenty is always a good thing with turbo kits, means alot if the manufacturer is willing to garantee the product.

And i was never going to buy an eBay kit, just wanted to know why they were soo cheap!

Not really wanting to build a turbo kit myself, couldnt really trust myself to come up with the right parts! lol

Cheers for everyones input tho!

Yeah the Racetech kit is awesome value for money! Ricky will hook you up with a complete drive in drive out package for a good price if you get the kit, management and mapping all done by himself! It will be a hella fast street car, reliable and make good numbers and sound great :D Contact Ricky and have a word, the guy knows his **** :nice::bow:

Will do! cheers for the help mate. Makes me not want to wait for the ek9 now!

vtec turbo ftw! :p
