Hi Guys,

My seatbelts are twisted (i think previous owner had harnesses??)

Is it easy enough to take apart and re-fit properly?

I am a noob, breif guide would be awesome :)

Thanks!

What do you mean , the tongue part ( cant think the name lol ) sits the opposite way?

They dont retract... they are just hanging down and they are hard to pull through to get into the actual clip itself (especially the passenger seat, larger passengers = no go) and upon further investigation where the belt goes behind the plastic and down, the pillar? its twisted so i would have to take it apart and just twist it back... sorry... hope that makes sense? lol

I get you now, yeah the only way to see is to remove the plastic trim and see if its tangled/twisted

Thats a pretty simple job i assume? wouldnt need to take out the seats or anything...?

TBH it might be easier if you did take out the seats, but the seats are only 4 bolts that you can whip out and take the seat out in under a minute so its shouldn't be a problem getting to the seatbelts..

Cheers guys, i need to give the seats a clean anyway so i will kill to birds with one stone!

:)

So, after a bit of investigating it looks as though the seats dont retract very well due to the plastic guide being fastened to the rollcage at an angle so the belt goes through awkwardly. On the passenger side i pulled back the plastic cover and the belt actually does twist going into the mechanism but i am unable to take the plastic cover all the off due to the rollcage... what can i do?

Harnesses? lol

pics! so we can better understand your setup/issue.

get a harness mate... look better, safer, so all round better :))

Thing is though, if i was to get harnesses i would be restricted in movement? I lean over (glovebox area) quite a lot due to my little homemade iPhone device to listen to music.

Also, are they really fiddly when getting into the car? i.e. what happens if i have a larger passenger as the harnesses dont retract? I might be being naive about it... but if its worth getting some harnesses then i am having a complete makeover on the car next month, if they cant do anything about it i shall just get some middle of the range ones?

IF i do... any suggestions?

Also, here are the pics as requested:

Guide does not move as its attached to the rollcage

As you can see it twisted and tangles when being pulled

The belt goes behind the plastic...

Rollcage prevents plastic from being easily removed

As result, belt is always slack

Oh, and a pic of the 9 :)

LOL i well wasn't expecting a roll cage.. F*** yeah man that looks awesome..

m8 this is not the section but can you post some of your roll cage around the car?>?

is there any way to straighten up that pivot point so the material of the belt can go through horizontally? thats your problem as its pinching the belt material.

haha! Cheers mate, did have side protection bars also but they were welded off!

what he said  wow man need to see more pics of this
:drive:

Of course, unfortunately i am now at work until 7am tomorrow morning but i will pop out and get some pictures from all points as i want to polish up the car tomorrow if possible.

Thats exactly what i thought but the pivot does not go horizontally as the bracket/cage prevents it from going back much further than it is! bit of a pain really so in theory... even if i was to twist the actual belt back, its still going to get tangled due to the angle of the pivot/guide?

Hmmm, harness it may have to be then? What are the pro's and cons? i thought about just getting the drive side harness but the passenger side is the most unsafe... damn cars!

I use 3 point harnesses in my daily drive. You get used to it after a little while. You've basically listed all the pros and cons yourself there (apart from looks ;) ).

What harness do you use? would it be suitable for both driver and passenger as i might just have to take the dive and go for it :) and yeah... they look sweet! where do the belts attach to behind the seat?

you'll not be able to have a harness in plus have rear seats, as the harnesses connect to the floor underneath the rear seats. Its also recommended to have a harness bar to avoid an extreme angle on the harness straps that would cause them to force you down in a accident instead of secure you in the seat. Is there any way to offset the oem belt to allow the hinge to sit more level?
