hi all

i have a ek9 98 model light wight
im selling this soon to import a type rx, then i want to turbo it, iv always had a turbo car i use to own a 303.8bhp at the flwheel starlet gt turbo which was amazing, that was full forged, unlike alot of poeple on the forums i dont have alot money but i really want about 350 -380bhp at the fly wheel sumting to keep up with my m8s 510bhp evo fq400
how would i go about turboing it, i will be doing all the work was hoping to get away without forgeing the engine what will stock parts take??? if they will to what bhp safly
im sorry for the big write up just a bit confused on what to do :nice:

 oohh nooo. You've opened a can a worms now dude. Only joking lol. Its just that theres benn some pretty heated threads in the past about turbo'ing an ek9, as many believe they should be left N/A.

Check out these threads:

I looked into going the turbo route too, and it is definately not a cheap option. All the tuners I spoke to said no corners should be cut in order to build a good safe engine.
Good luck:nice:

there will be no more heated threads on the topic of turbo, i will delete any post that attempts to start an arguement or does not have tech info, like this one below:

n/a all the way mate!!!

most turbo threads are asking specific questions, not opinions, if an opinion is given it must be backed up with tech data, this is NOT a turbo VS NA discussion, any attempts to start such a discussion will be removed. if you want to discuss turbo VS NA please start your own thread. im not trying to be an a-hole, its just that we have all argued about is so many times already

stock parts on the b16b with such high compression should be good for about 250whp which should require about 7psi from a t3t04e size turbo. what grade fuel to you have access to? some people have put out 330whp on the stock internals with 11.1 CR but they used 116 octane gas and had an EXCELLENT tuner. so you need 2 things, high octane fuel and an excellent tuner :nice:

sorry about that mate. there will always be arguments by the ek9 purists on forced induction i aggree. in cyprus we don't have a choice bcz of the dumb cops. but speaking about forced induction, how about a vortech supercharger kit? i reckon that would be excellent!!! :nice: & it comes with everything so you can install it in about 6 hours!!! & they also claim around 300 bhp!!!! :drive:

a +300 bhp gt turbo:shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked: .thats serious power. i presume u had the 1.5 block?? i know a lad with a 230bhp one down here and thats stupid fast . could only imagine what yours is like.

jus outta interest what mods were done to the wee starlet????

What he said ^^^^ lol. Seriously though, Ive got an ep82, and a few of my friends have done td04 conversions on theirs running roughly 180-200whp, and they are stupidly fast.So yours must have been a serious beast dude:)

i will be using super unleaded which is 97, i know of a good tuner as he maped my starlet,

for the people who ask about the starlet it was 1.3 with 1.3 bottom end, it wasnt uprated to 1.5. i was running a full forge engine, and a gt28r garret turbo, with external waste gate,440cc injectors destec unichip. and metal head gasket and lllllllllllllllllllllllllots more stuff they where the main bits tho. it was fast and i enjoyed it alot just hopeing to get the civic to the same power or more lol. would it be possiable to get around 300 with out turbo or super charger????

thats fine, i have no problem with that, but if thats the case, then people should start there own thread, this thread is not to discuss the pros and cons of forced induction, if someone wants to do that, they need to start there own thread.

i dont like these things, they are the most expensive form of forced induction, they have all the cons of a roots style blower, all the cons of a turbo system and NONE of the benefits. the only reason people in the US use them is becuase they are legal and easier to install.

97 is good, you should be able to get 250whp easily with 97 and a good tuner.

if you mean 300whp then yes its possible, my friend is doing it, 2.6 liter K series engine and $20,000 usd is all you need :D

if you mean 300bhp (which is 255whp), then thats even easier a 2.0 b-series can do that with about $10,000
