Hi, im recently having hard a time deciding wherever to stay N/A or go turbo, i am willing to spend £4000 on turbo kit (which has to include everything and fixing) and iv seen a good one at this link MAD MOTORS - YOUR ONE-STOP MODIFYING SHOP
(they listed everything that comes with turbo, is this all i need?)

On the other hand staying N/A and spending £4000 is the other option, thing is i can see myself having the EK9 for a good 3-4 years... so would it be safer to stay N/A? (i have a list of mods if people wanted to see) also which would last longer out of them 2 options?

i am situated at Southampton (UK)...can anyone name some good tuners near here that would tune either a turbo or N/A?

would apreciate it if blinx answers some of these questions as i been reading alot on here and he seems to be like a turbo freak lol..

Thanks, Wai.

na then you wont do a turbo properly for that money,, a K20 transplant wouls just about be possible though if you did all teh work yourself

If you have a B16B then go NA. B16B with a turbo will not see good gains. As B16B is 1.6L perfected! if you have a B16A2 or B18C then go turbo. You will see crazy increase in HP. Enjoy.

go n/a bud get it stroked and a set of cams. or like said get a k20 transplant

yeah i thought about stroking it, and thats on my mod list IF im going N/A. u mentioned the K20.. is that where i would take out the EK9 engine and put the K20 in? basicaly like a new engine?

hello :D well to answer this question i would have to say both will last the same and i have a very simple reason why:

NA you have to rev higher, have higher compression and bigger cams, all of this puts stress on an engine.

Turbo you can keep your stock cams, lower your comression which is good for your motor but you add boost which is stress for your motor.

so they both stress the motor, also to put it in prespective a lot of people dont realize raising compression is like adding boost in regards to stress on the engine, for examply my engine with 7psi of boost has the same cylinder pressure of an NA car with 12:1 comression both have the same stress.

you asked if the kit was complete but i didnt see a link to the turbo kit :(

yes it will, you just have to be careful, ive seen guys making 300bhp with stock b16b+turbo you just have to keep the boost low.

i like this idea :nice: you can sell your b16b add a little more money to the pot and have a k20 which is the best if you want NA performance.

N/A all the way, as said probably not enough for a turbo. For £1.5-2k start with a gearbox rebuild, MFactory gears, uprated clutch, lsd, fly, possibly FD. Massive fun factor. Then if this isnt enough possibly go 1.8. I recomend giving Tom @TGM in Fleet a call, only 45mins from Southampton.

Also to note, getting good gains in NA costs loads of money. Im talking ITB's, cams, etc...turbo cars dont need a lot to gain extra power.
Im not sure why people dont like forced induction so much. I read a sig on a forum once that read something along the lines of "Turbos have turbo lag, NA has never ending lag"...I like NA cars too, but for the big power IMO there is nothing like Turbo's

sorry dude heres the link to that turbo kit MAD MOTORS - YOUR ONE-STOP MODIFYING SHOP

oh btw i saw a K20 type r engine for sale on ebay for about £2500...1k mileage on it. is it worth the price would you lot say?

that is a 100% complete kit as long as you get the intercooler upgrade.

HOWEVER the kit they list is NOT for a b16 at all!! it appears to be for a USDM 96-00 civic which comes with a D16 SOHC engine.

the turbo kit you need is Greddy part number 11550022 and comes with the TD05H-18G turbo NOT the 19T turbo listed by mad motors.

assuming you get the proper kit part number 11550022 i would have a custom 2.5" downpipe made for the kit instead of using the downpipe that comes with it adds about 15-20whp and the greddy downpipe probably wont fit cause its designed for USDM vehicles, everything else should fit, just make sure to make a custom downpipe, get the intercooler and you will be PERFECT!! id guess 260whp easily with that kit at 6-8psi.

also the price is very high on that website, is the price in pounds or euro? you should be able to get the kit for $2500 usd without the intercooler kit, the intercooler kit comes with 2 options, the 24V kit is $800usd and is part number 12050005, the 31v intercooler is about $600usd and is part number 12050007.

also moved this thread to FI forum...

you didnt read the thread did you? oh well here is the info you need:

i recomed the 24V intercooler :nice:

the Edelbrock turbo Kit for 99-00 Si will also fit your car and i think it would be even better!!

also not needed but highly recomended:
-fuel pressure and boost gauge
-arp head studs
-a thicker head gasket to drop the compression.
-2.75" or 3" exhaust.
