Hi Guys,

thinking of turboing my car in a few months, I have a JDM SiR B18C(4) of around 80000 miles and was wondering what checks I should get done to make sure it can handle it?

I want to run around 280 - 300 on standard internals and am considering a race-tech kit.

Currently have S300 and a Skunk IM and everything else is already uprated (brakes, suspension, mounts, clutch...) so would just need the kit, fuelling upgrades and fitting bits n bobs..

Compression test to see if compression is fairly even across all 4 and checking the oil pressure is a good place to start,

I've got a SPA gauge fitted and pressure is very healthy... Compression test is a good shout!

What clutch? Itl need to cope with 200+ lbs ft

It's a Stage 1 competition clutch... not ideal but should hold for a while?

Check the blow by if you have the resources, but so far it sounds like your engine is healthy, 300whp should be plenty safe with the right turbo/psi/tune/gas and supporting mods, your stage 1 clutch will fail quicker than you think, remember it is an organic disk with a fairly light pressure plate, this is a bad setup for boost, it will hold if your have cheap tires but if you have any type of sticky tire you will find the limits of your clutch quickly! Good luck, keep us posted!!!!!!! :blinx:

Is there any/much oil consumption?

A little yes... I used half a litre on track at the Ring over a hot 3 days... did around 12+ laps all at WOT

Cool thanks Blinx... I tend to run Toyo R888's so I think a new clutch would be in order... would this suffice without killing too much driveability?

Yes that will hold the power (most likely) but if you run R888's then i assume you road race, drive aggressively, and shift quickly, with that said i suggest something that is 4-pad with NO springs, the unsprung disc will be lighter allowing for quicker gear changes, thats what i use and its not that hard to drive honestly but i also went with a lighter pressure plate 1800lbs iirc, i had my clutch custom made by a local company so you might have to call around and see if anybody will accomodate running such an agressive disck with a softer pressure plate as the 4-pad disc can allow you to have the same holding power as the 6-pad but with less pressure on the pedal.
