Toyo R888

I've used these on the rear and on the front, in rain, sun, and even snow.
I love these! They're aren't as bad in the rain as most say, I was stupidly surprised when I was trying to kick the back end out with lift off and the car didnt go either in rain or dry!

In the snow it's pretty good, I only got stuck 3 times and I was in Oxford where the snow was over a foot deep in some places.

On the front however I have some complaints, they tramline REALLY badly!! Grip is phenomenal as expected but the tramlining is absurd! These aren't bad for a daily drive apart from that but I much preferred my RE01-Rs :D

any noob can be driving hard on a nice sunny day with semis on the road, then suddenly a puddle appears, or starts raining, or road damp after rain, and the dude without knowing could spin himself off a cliff or kill somebody. Who knows... theres crazy accidents everyday.

Can't help but laugh at this comment, what a dramatisation

I've been running R888 for a good few month now, even in standing water they are very predictable, even if you don't see the puddles coming. Also I find them good in the wet, get heat in them quick enough that it doesn't make much a difference

Well, just got my r888 yesterday and I will have them on this weekend for testing in dry and wet. I will update after a week on the car. { :) }
225/45/15 on 15x8 wheels

I use R888 daily on my EK9, absolutely outstanding in the dry and tbh they are still very good in the wet

I was worried about puddles but it's fine, driven home from work over some back roads in really bad rain a few times, as long as you don't drive like a mong they are fine

On the downside they give off a lot of road noise especially above 50mph, also if you are out on a good run and get them properly hot they chuck up loads of stones and crap off the road

Can't see me changing to a different tyre now, really really like them!!!

As for how long they will last? Guess time will tell, i check my alignment frequently, car is all rebushed and i run some very aggressive alignment settings so i will see!!

X2! :nice:

had them over a year now including 3 track days.. rear tyres are still fine, guess cos ek's are light, only replaced front ones as after the 3rd track day they had little life left. Use 205/50/15 on the front therefore i did not swap my front tyres for the rear ones...

driven in the wet aswell and believe its fine if driven sensibly :blinx:

i reckon grip is vry important as tyres at the end of the day is the only thing on contact with the road..

i do see the point jugbuz is trying to get across, but i dont use my civic daily for long distances drives, so can get away with 888 as a daily tyre :nice:

I am selling these tires in czech. I have to say, thay are good in price/result. We have lack of semi-slicks...so they dont have much competition with "E" tires. They are really good on dry surface, strong sidewall. They dont last long, but what do expect from "race" tire?:) The biggest issue about them is IMHO overheating. It is really easy to overheat them. It is like few overspeeds in turn and its done. After overheating they are loosing grip. You really have to drive clean. Anyway my friend race them in 12h race. I think he used only two sets. They feals good even on wet surface, but not on water.

BTW: check out this BM test, i think result is pretty similar with stuff what i am saying.

Most high performance tires do OK in the wet, but its standing water that they can't handle.

Just took a spin, 45 miles, in the rain this morning, they do very well for a r tire in the wet. Standing water, like any tire, not worth talking about. But one really should not run through standing water, anywho.

LOVEN the R888s! wow.

for this tyre if i make a normal trip with 100 klm speed relaxed for 2 or 3 hours , will this tyre be ok ??? or it will get damaged ?

you say that they are bad on water but bad for a racing tire?? or comparing to a standard road tyre?
