this is what a bee-R does to your engine

had a bee-R limiter in the cl1 the last month or so, was using it as flat shift wired to the clutch pedal, worked good didnt have to lift off to change gear, and spat a flame out each tailpipe on every gear change, but this is the result, its not a rumour that they are engine killers it is a fact, im guessing it had the ignition so fecked up that it ignited fuel on an compressing piston,

Haha damn - that's pretty harsh! That could have been a lot worse if your timing was at all out! More people should know about this really!

A what? Anything with a name like that I wouldn't touch lol!

Cuts the ignition. It's a stand alone rev-limiter!

The pops come from the fuel continuing, and then when the ignition comes back in, all the unspent fuel ignites - hence big pops bangs and flames!

Same story as when you floor a Carb'd engine and then switch it on.

EDIT: Don't condone btw, just explaining :p

My mate had one of these on his s14. Sounds like ******* gunshots lol

I take it the engine damage is from the cylinder walls being washed dry by unburned fuel? I really wanted a two step ''launch control'', but I'm not so sure now after seeing this!

time to upgrade to a proper single exit system :p

is this the reason why theres one for sale on donedeal at the moment?:naughty: thank god i saw this thread!

i was actually gonna get one , looks like im not getting it thanks alot :nice:

To be fair, in the grand scheme of things, this is to stop 'rev-bogging' from hitting the a standard rev-limiter, although doubles as a 2 step launch control. It's also in some ways "Better" than fuel cut on boosted applications.

However this is pretty rudimentary electronics, and the Bee-R limiter has sod all consideration for where in a cycle the engine is before it cuts back in. Hence you could end up having a seriously retarded ignition and blow a hole through your block with Detonation!

Fuel cut is a LOT safer...provided the fuel is completely cut, and not a partial pulse - as obviously extremely high temperatures from a lean burn isn't any better than detonation.

Moral of the story? Don't mess with the standard rev limiter unless you know what you're doing!

i got one but i never use it used it once at santa pod and it tore my drive shafts to bits :/ so i never used it after that tbh

you should try fitting omex launch control,, ive had it in my ek4 for a while now and it has no bother putting a flame out and a serious bang and only happens at the touch of a button when ever you want. Its pretty sore on a back box though lol

Edd had the BeeR set when I picked his S14 up for a detail. **** myself when it first came on and I thought id broke his car, was at the lights at Motherwell before road to Hamilton and it was wet.

Here's 2 of my mates old cars with the omex one... Probably all it was good for.
