Hi Guys

Have been really considering swapping or selling up of my ITRx in favour of an S2000.

Just feel its more my type of car and after owning an EK9 Rx and now this ITRx i feel its the next step really as im not too fond of EP3s and the like.

Anyone here done this and ended up back in the ITR?

Thoughts on the pros and cons? and comparisons in handling?

Im very cautious as this is such a tidy ITRx and I know if I were to let it go and the S2000 wasnt everything I expected I would never find another ITR like this.

I loved the s2k, only downside was I couldn't carry passengers, or anymore than 1 should I say, and I like to chuck stuff in the back seats, bet it wasnt as big of problem as I expected, they reason I sold mine was I was going to loose my licence as every roundabout I had it broadside and although it was fun, I had to be sensible and sell it lol.

In the same boat with my ek9 mate looking at maybe getting a s2000, or e46 m3 but read so many posts about people regretting it.

Sold my s2k for an ek9.
Insurance is ridiculous for the s2k. Can actually insure an Evo for similar/less money.
I didn't like the cost of simple mods for the s2k but if your staying stock that's not an issue.
Not particularly good on fuel, no grunt at all below 5-6k, worse than my ek9. Felt flat.
They have a lot of issues aswell and everything is expensive to fix.
I could probably go on and on.
Great handlers though!

Personally mate i'd ask for a short term loan :D That way you can buy an S2K and if you like it you can sell your ITR and pay off the loan quickly so it will be pretty cheap. How ever if you Don't like the S2k you're fine, sell it pay back the loan and you still have your ITR..

I've done this a few times now, Although i haven't kept any of the car's. all the car's i bought i loved so sold the other ones. :D even had a friend buy my first starlet for me, he fronted the cash so i didn't miss buying the car and then i sold my Civic once i already had the Starlet :D Also meant i didn't have to lower my asking price to sell it to buy the other car, i waited and got what i wanted and paid my friend back WIN WIN !!!!!!

This may be an Idea!

Might get a bit messy though if I end up taking a while to sell or find a car.

Hmmmmmm thats something to think about

I sold my ITR and got a standard facelift S2000, it was great whilst i had it, great engine etc. as said it is quite expensive to run and boot space is pants, but if you want Rwd then thats a good option. Driving position and interior is fantastic, i had the hard top, which is a must in the winter.

Now i own an EK9 Rx :))

Did i regret selling my ITR - yes
Did i enjoy owning the S2000 - yes
Would i like an S2000 again sometime later - defo

yeah id ideally want a black or red GT with matching hardtop, maybe a few mods like coilovers, wheels and an oem lip kit,

That would be great.

Its become such a pain now to sell up though, with all the canvasers, low ballers and time wasters. Can take ages to find a genuine buyer. might stick up a for sale thread and see what happens.....

A swap would be so much less hassle.

S2k and boost :D

See this wouldnt be so bad.

A reasonable sized turbo for a little extra low down torque and the VTec for top end.

I doubt there are alot of people with S2000s looking for DC2s if im honest just because of the type of drivers the more common S2000 attracts.

I agree with this. I had a pre face lift ek9, sold it for a S2K. I loved it but soon found myself wanting my 9 back. I now have a face lift ek9 after owning the big S for 10 months. Its a must own car. Proper fun but i didnt like it at all day to day. You can always go back like i did.

Unless your in a financial situation where you can't really afford to swap or buy an S2000 then why not? If your toying with the idea then you might as well just do it.

s2k will be my next car.

LOL

Its more the time aspect of waiting for the DC2 to sell and then looking for a suitable S2000.

My ideal situation would be someone with an 02 - 04 Black or Red Low millage S2000 with a hardtop and OEM front lip with maybe some basis Mods - coilovers maybe some wheels that is looking for a straight swap and maybe a bit of cash their way.

Ive been looking on Pistonheads, S2ki, itr-dc2 and even civiclife but not really any that are suitable that are looking for a PX.

Might have to bight the bullet and stick a for sale thread up and see what happens.

Having been in the boat of just choosing an ITR JDM over an S2000, I'd say stick with what you've got, the S2000 is a great car, but overall I much preferred the teg, handling feels slicker, more responsive. It may have been the case I just test drove a few pretty poorly looked after S2000's. I'd say until it becomes a reasonable insurance I would stay with the teg as with the back end slipping out like an old TVR the S2000 it will give you some scary moments even if you can drift, even my old S15 Silvia's rear end felt more stable coming into roundabouts.

As someone's said already for the same insurance, even cheaper you could get an evo or impreza, if you wanted to go down the RWD route, get an S14, cheaper than an S15 even though maybe not as good as the looks front, but with insurance money you'd put into getting an S2000 and maybe the money you'll add to your teg to pay for it, you could probably get a decent s14 and insure it and keep the teg.

If you want pure speed and precise handling much like that of the teg, go along the impreza STI route, my RB320 Hawkeye Impreza although costing 4 times more than what I paid for the teg, it's the only comparable car I've driven and I will get an STI again in the future.

Hope this helps, even though its a beautiful car, there's a reason you don't see many S2K's about.

Yeah it does great insight thank you.

Will have to see if theres much intrest in the old ITRx then i suppose.
