when buying a set of tein super street coilovers for an ek9 is it worth paying out the extra £176 for the pillowball top mounts,i know that the top mounts give you the extra camber adjustment but is this needed on a ek9?,in other words is there already enough camber adjustment on the car without having to fork out an extra £176 for the top mounts???

You don't need the pillowball tops. You can't adjust camber or caster from the top hat on a double wishbone suspension EK9 anyway. That kind of adjustment is for macphearson strut cars like the DC5. The stiffer spherical bearing top hats do have slight stiffness advantages for those dedicated to the track with their EK9, but for most it really is unnecessary, it adds to ride harshness.

DC5/EP3 owners (those with macphearson strut's up front) benefit much more with spherical bearing upper mounts. Since alignment can be affected from movement in the top hat during cornering, a stiffer "pillowball" top hat is beneficial.

To adjust front camber on an EK9 you have to get a camber kit, which is a replacement upper control arm that has an adjustable ball joint. Some, like SPC, let you adjust caster as well.

cheers for the info buddy,i wont bother spending the extra money if the only benefit is gunna be looks like blinx mentioned

not really, but i really like the way they look :)
there are some benefits to having the top mounts that ive found out now,you get the option of 45mm drop front and rear rather than 23mm rear/10mm front without the tein topmounts, the steering will be more responsive with the tein pillowball top mounts and the shocks are easier to fit yourself if supplied with the top mounts already fitted:nice:
