It's for looks, some people like the way they look, whats not to understand? Just like some people like 15" wheels while some like 17" wheels, some people like carbon hoods i personally hate them...
 
i think people who aren't initially interested should just keep their thoughts to themselves as you are not participating at all with regards to what the intial thread is offering.
