New Subaru BRZ Concept shown at the 2011 LA Auto show; we have all seen the concept images so this looks like/near enough the production model. Car in general reminds me of an S2000. Spec are as follows:

Engine: "FA"engine - 2.0L Naturally-aspirated four-cylinder Horizontally opposed boxer engine, designed exclusively for the BRZ sports car.

Suspension/Brakes: STI Tuned suspension set up with a wheel base of 101.2 inches. Brembo brakes.

Other info: The Engine in the Subaru BRZ - STI sits 4.7 inches lower and is positioned 9.4 inches closer to the centre of the chassis compared to the Subaru Impreza: Bore and stroke 86 x 86 mm. Vented rear bumper for efficient cornering, carbon fibre roof.

Production will begin spring 2012.

Thoughts as usual :)

Definitely does mate, can't wait to see this car in action.

The side mirrors in the concept car made me laugh however

I'm really looking forward to the BRZ and GT86 (same car, different badges.) Looks like the small coupe market is back with this and the Mugen CRZ, I'd love one panda style like an old Hachiroku with LSD and with all un-necessary crap thrown out.

I will own one of these as soon as practically possible, so so good to see Subaru/Toyota producing a cheap to own, simple RWD coupe, this sector has been vacant for so long now!

+1

It's about time we had some affordable, fun RWD coupes that don't cost the earth to buy or run. As soon as I can afford one in the future I will buy one, I imagine as well that tuners will go potty for these cars once they are released as well. :D

Oh hell yes, let see a return to a proper tuner culture rather than the current 'Yea I got a remap on my 2.0 TDI and it's got eleventy million torks now' bollocks!

I am hearing rumours already of a TRD supercharged version... spankworthy. :D

Couldn't agree more Kozy. Just recently saw an article on this car; the aim is too make the car "tuner" friendly as in they want people like us to buy the car and..well.. tune it. I definitely think this logic is the best way and I do think it will be a very very successful car. Really want to own one of these in the not too distant future. :nice: TRD Supercharged version sounds sensational

It's a brilliant business model when you think about it, they get it in all the low emissions brackets, cheap tax, cheap insurance, good on fuel etc, then let the aftermarket turn them into the fire breathing monsters without any of the corportate punishment, but still with a warranty. Scion seem to do OK with this idea in the states IIRC!

Amen to that. Rumours already circulating of a cheap as chips base model with steel wheels and a basic interior. That would make a fantastic base car, whack on a nice set of Volks, LSD, Recaro's, intake and exhaust and you'll have a properly fun car.

Reviewers are raving about the GT86 and BRZ as well. Evo have given both cars 5 stars and they don't chuck about good ratings so it must be seriously good.

The Toyota is priced at £25,000 and they are going to start taking orders very soon.

Very interested in what this car can do for the performance world, the introduction of cheap performance motoring is defo something to be explored.
