Right well im getting cel 14 and dodgy idle. When i disconnect it my idle is perfecto when its plugged back in i get surging revs etc.
Does this mean iacv is goosed?
btw i have just flowed the front edge of the throttle body into a blade and yes iv taken it out and sprayed with carb cleaner etc.
also i am getting power to it, put a small led into the connector and it lights up
:please::please::please:

You just need to clean out the IACV with some solvent cleaner leave it to dry for a while then it will be fine :)

Jimbo- already tried mate
Fek it gonna spray some wd-40 in there lol see what happens

Have you cleared the code and rest the ECU once you cleaned it out and reconnected it?

Oherwise the code is stored and I will do the same regardless if you put a new IACV on!

i have done all i could think of mate, im not a newbie to wiring etc i have done the whole engine swap single handed armed with only a laptop and only had this error code lol
just thought there is a way to determine if its definatly goosed.
So wired up the d16 iacv to 12v and it opens every click, suspicous i checked the opening on the air way and it seems that the internal port that the air goes through is a lot wider than the b16 one, which is proberly the reason im still getting cel.
I then re-checked the b16 by wiring it up to 12v and it seemd to sort of open slower on maybe 3 out of 10 tests.
So re sprayed it out and left it to soak in carb cleaner and now it seems to be sorted every click open quick

The Cause (hopefully)
1. D16a6 obd0 iacv has a slightly larger internal passage for air to get through resulting a higher idle than expected causing a cel
2. If i had just persisted with the b16 iacv and cleaned it correctly and thorougly tested it, i wouldnt have had this problem.

Hope this helps someone

I have found that they do go bad. Mine went bad and gave me the same as you are getting, a hunting idle. I tried to clean it out a few times, and still not good. I even bought a used one, it too was bad. I bought a new one from Honda, ouch, and that worked!

That is all I have to offer up. Remember these IACV's heat the hell up with coolant running through them, so I recommend to bypass the coolant lines to better the life of the IACV.
