Spoon's EK9 with a k20 swap Vs FD2

Spoons K20 EK9 off the top of my head is............

Hasport mounts
Spoon built K20 engine (spoon cams and valvetrain, blueprinted, etc etc etc)
5.1FD with Spoon mechanical LSD
Spoon manifold/exhaust
Stripped rear interior with just 2 front spoon carbon bucket seats with takatas
Strut braces all round
Volk CE28N in 16" rear and 17" front, fronts are wider too hence the flared arches to accomodate these
Rear windows replaced with clear lexan ones
Carbon bonnet and wing mirrors
Cut slick tyres of some sort
300mm bonoblock front brakes
Spoon full race spec coilovers

Sure there is more!

Oh and the DC5 comments, apparantly the FD2 is an extra 50% stiffer than the DC5 and also if you look at videos on youtube comparing them, the FD2 is quicker in a straight line as well as cornering ;)

I'm sure there must be more to be had out of the engine if stroked, I've seen K26.5 engines etc. Surely they would make even more power!

the spoon's b18 ek9 was faster at Tsukuba than their k20..
spoon ek9 b18 laps Tsukuba at 1.02.96
spoon ek9 k20 laps Tsukuba at 1.03.38
the driver was the same Keichi Tsuchiya

Yeh that was interesting... The Spoon B18 EK9 had 260HP and an incredible set of gear ratios that made the revs really fast. I guess SPOON mustve have tuned it specifically for that track.

Yes the B18 EK9 was faster but watch both the videos and you will see why.......

The B18 seemed MUCH easier to drive, the K20 he was fighting the wheel when slowing down for every corner, combination of the 300mm front monoblock brakes and the diff. In general the driving in the B18 video seemed effortless and so so smooth, perfect piece of driving!!!

Also consider the driver, both driven by the same person but about 8 years apart, back then he was racing competitively ;)

The B18 certainly looked like the most balanced and well set up car out of the 2

Well dont know if anyone knew this but in 2008 speedhunters reported (at their Rev speed super battle 08 Tsukuba circuit) Feel's Honda Twincam ran a 1:00.516!!!...that was in 08! From a 1:04 to 1:00.516 wow    :drive:

"The car is developing into a full-on time attack machine and is now powered by an ITB-fed K-series engine that makes around 300hp"

"One minute flat for an naturally aspirated Civic is a pretty awesome acheivement."

Would you even consider Spoon's K20 EK9 a full on time attack machine or more like a street type still??
