Hi fellow honda enthusiasts

I was just wondering what spring rate I should order for my EG(B16B).
I'm looking for settings that is compatable on the track and is almost livable on the road.:drive:

The coilover system I want is the Spoon Adjustable type coilovers. I haven't ordered it so if you have another system that I should buy instead, please do tell :please:

If it helps, I have removed the interior in the back(seats, plastics, spare tire etc.)

thanks beforehand :thanks:

Iceland? What are your roads lime out there? Lot of gravel tracks or is that just what they show us on Top Gear? Also, what are the tracks like?

It's quite a hard subject to offer advice on as everyone has different ideas on what is good when it comes to suspension.

I live in the capital of Iceland so I don't drive on gravel but in the countryside you can find gravel roads if you look but its not like Top Gear says it is.

The track that we have is an old go cart track so its small but it has kinda sharp turns. I drive fast on the roads here and am always trying to go as fast as I can through turns here (when there is no-one else near).
It is also for looks to lower the car.

Hope this is enough information :p

So are we talking generally smooth surfaces, or bumpy with lots potholes like we get in the UK?

In my opion my rates of 6.3/5.5 are perfect for road springs on bad roads, and to bias it more towards track I would maybe go up to 8/7 or so, but much more than that and it would start becoming seriously compromised on the road. That's just me though, and I prefer a softer setup...

ok, thanks man, I think I will go for the 8/7 rates :D I like the suspension harder on cars, I go seasick in cars with normal spring rates :p :/

The rates that Spoon recommends for their old N1 (black damper) is 14/12 for the EG6, but this was for the B16A.

I actually don't think it matters in that regard as the EK9 had 16/14 rates. This was likely due to the wheelbase being longer on the EK9 than the EG6.

If you really do get your hands on the original N1 dampers, you will likely find that you need custom length springs as the 200/220mm lengths will likely not be enough if you intend to run rates lower than 10kg.

The original N1 dampers lack the ability to adjust the overall length of the body and have to be compensated with custom lengths or stacking of a washer on the damper hat. I have had 2 sets of these dampers personally and found it a pain to set it up (to my liking) for North American roads.

here is a link for the system Spoon Adjustable Type Coilovers : Spoon Sports

If I go for this system, I think i'll go for 14/12, I just want the car to be rock solid and go like stink around corners :D

Looking at the ones in the link, I would go for 8/8 for road use, and increase according to how often you go to the track.
