Spoon ECU

do you need to change the valve springs and retainers for the increased rev limit of the spoon ecu- 9100 rpm ??

hey john mate.i asked the spoon technician the same question and he says the b16b engine can take up to 9300rpm on standard valves and springs.ive have no problem at all with mine:nice:

does that upper limit inculde an itr? considering its same springs etc...

my friends UKDM ITR had a spoon ecu on it, the only other mods on the car were

-supersprint manifold/decat
-tanabe smr cat back exhaust (bung in at all times  )
-spoon drop in filter

the ecu was great though, he said it performed very similar to his ek9 which he had fitted with a unichip/vtec module. made vtec transition alot smoother and the car pulled extremely well right the way up to the limiter :nice:

do you guys think this is a worth while mod(spoon ecu) as i dont really plan to do any internal mods ,what i mean is it a good mod for a stock b16b motor with breathing mods ,spoon n1+b pipe ,itg carbon air box,4-1 header, sports cat ,leigh mate PM me your mob number so i can have a chat about the spoon ecu :nice:thanks

quick Q, does a spoon ecu from a prefacelift obd2a, go into a facelift ek9? obd2b

cheers

There different, so you will have to get a connecting loom;)

rywire.com sell conversion harness for obd2a to obd2b mate,£70+postage.

What sort of increase in power/driveability have you guys noticed after fitting the spoon ecu?

i have just installed mine.
vtec comes in at 5000rpm and cuts out at 9100rpm.
like jugbugz, i have found that between 5000-5800 rpm, there is a little stall in power, then piling it on hard from 6000 rpm onwards. i will drive it a little longer before i write a review or something
