Are Spoon cams any good? my ek9 has spoon valve springs and retainers. But i was gona change to Crower cams, springs, retainers and gears . Just curious to find out what people think of them ? Also is it worth while upgrading to a spoon throttle body?

Thanks

Spoon throttle body was a nice upgrade for sure when i fitted it. As for the cams imho there are better on the market for gains, as the Spoons are a mild tune upgrade over the EK9 cams.

IMO, the best cams on the market for street driven or road racing are the Skunk2 PRO series cams. The midrange long flat torque curve is simply unbeatable. Best of luck with whichever you choose :D

IIRC the Spoon cams were designed to work with the Spoon ecu as well.

ijwhiteman what spoon throttle body did you fit was it the 62mm tapered one ? I have been thinking about this myself.

Also, Spoon do not sell these cams anymore, you would have to search for a place that still had some or 2nd hand.

Spoon Sports Europe do not have any either

The skunk2 stuff is not that good the profile of the cam SNAPS the valve shut. IIRC i herd problems with people ruining there valve train because of this....

Not sure if the cams where maped in aswell... The thottle body is a 70mm down to 62mm. Very nice on partial throttle and a lot more response it feels better in the low to mid range.

Hmmm, not sure. It just seems a waste to go pulling out the spoon springs and retainers and buy a whole new drivetrain . But dont want not to get good power . Currently running 206 @ the fly .

Do u get diff sized spoon throttle bodies ?

We use the Skunk2 Pro series cams in every car we race. We have been dominating every race in our class since switching to these from the Skunk2 tuner series cams.

Why do people continue to bash a manufacturer's product because of a "theory" they read somewhere?
