Spoon Calipers Clamping On? Help?

Thread tidied up guys, keep the discussion to PM between the 2 of you before things get out of hand :nice:

remove the hose from the back of the caliper, have someone press the brake pedal and if fluid comes out you will know there is no blockage in the brake lines and it must be the caliper itself

it's not uncommon for spoon calipers to become seized - in the 15k miles i had mine on the car i rebuilt them twice as the pistons were sticking. However this can differ depending on weather and pads used etc etc etc

if it is the caliper sticking i would suggest rebuilding both calipers - makes sense, if one has started to stick then the other may do soon. spoon sports europe can source you a new seal kit, they would have to be seriously knackered to need new pistons so wouldn't worry so much about that

as for them being second hand goods etc, this is the problem with buying second hand goods, you have to take someones words for the condition etc so there is always a risk

i suggest you look into it a bit more to find a resolution to your problem then discuss with sammy via pm or phone etc if need be :nice:

the flexi hoses can be blocked in the opposite way. e.g. not allowing the fluid to return resulting in the brake clamping on. cracking the pipe off and pumping the pedal would not resolve this. you need to do as i said in the last post and that will deffo show you if it is the caliper or something els.

I think Kev has it right tbh. I cracked both bleed nipples off yesterday and the disc was freed after being clamped on, so HOPEFULLY and FINGERS CROSSED it's just the flexi and not the caliper. Going to swap the flexi's on Friday when I get time and see if that's the cause. I'll let you know the results. Cheers StevenEK9 for clearing up the thread...

No problem buddy. Thanks for the info. Yeah, even if it's the line itself, I'll just get it replaced. Ahh, sorry, thought you were using a bit of "play-on-words" with Kev and VTi together. Cheers for the help anyway, top bloke. :)

Stevie.

any luck with the new brake hoses ?

Had to order some other standard '9 ones mate as the ones that came with the calipers have a chunk missing out of them... Urghh... Will let you know when they get delivered. :nice:
