skunk2 stage 1 cams


i have hondata s300 running 199bhp with the vtec coming in at 5500 just after more power and lower the vtec
 
well there not the same, they are slightly more agressive... also this is the for sale section, better if you post in the want to buy section ;)
 
you are going in the wrong direction!



You wont be able to lower your vtec engagement point with Skunk2 Stage 1s, they wont really make any power below 6000rpm just like you EK9 ones. It is a pointless upgrade for an EK9, you really wont see an improvement. With my Stage 1 cams, even lowering it to 5500rpm didnt net me any improvements and the car was positively slower when i set the engagement point at 5000rpm.


What you want is a B16A2 intake manifold for your EK9, ported to match the size of the stock EK9 throttle body. Done on an ITR, This setup gave an 8whp and 7wtq increase everywhere between 4000rpm and 8000rpm. Power did tail off and begin to decline after 8000rpm but not by much at all.

 
you won't need to port match anything, the b16a TB is the same size as the b16b... Using the b16 manifold could give some midrange gains but will seriously start to hurt top end performance once you start adding more parts...

Will, in the graph above are you comparing stock EK9 cams/ecu vs tuned S1's/s300?

I'm wondering how much of that increase is attributed to decent tuning and how much of it is due to the slight increase in aggression of the Tuner S1's over the CTR cams?

Which town are you based by the way Will? Need some s300 tuning myself in the near future.
 
illcentric tuning is a vital roll no matter which cam you choose.
 
Absolutely Blinx, just impressed with the gains on the S1's over EK9 cams. Looking at the difference between the specs of the respective cams I'd never have thought it.

Yeah there decent gains for sure, most people do skip them and go straight to stage 2's though.

ek9turbo just to be sure those are tuner 1's correct? Or are they the pro1's?
